Summer Transfers

That's because the deal isn't done yet. They are close to agreeing but not 100% yet. There is an agreement with the player. I expect the deal to be done in the next two weeks. Jose wants all 3 signings there when pre season starts on 15 July.

Gunners reject Barcelona's £24m bid for Adebayor

ARSENAL have signalled their intent to keep Emmanuel Adebayor by rejecting an offer of £24m from Barcelona. Joan Laporta, the president of the Catalan club, had hoped to complete a deal for the Togo forward before a vote of no-confidence from club members on Sunday, but he is likely to have to make an offer closer to £30m for Arsenal to consider selling the striker.

Well I guess, if they are prepared to fork out 30Mil for a defender, then they should be willing to fork out so much more for a "matchwinning" striker.

i hope arsenal dont sell him

its about time arsenal started worrying about winning trophies and not making a quick buck off all their stars

I don't know , maybe I play FM too much "Football Manager", I say sell the ingrate. Once a players head has been turned, he is never the same player again.

Come mouthing off about, "I'll play like Henry, when I get paid like Henry" he can only but ever dream of playing like Henry. Even on a off year like last year was, Henry still ended up as Barca's leading scorer.

I say , take the £32m and run. I am certain we'll be picking up a number of prospects for that kinda cash.

Van Persie will be up and running , along with Eduardo (Sun.co.uk) have a number of pics of him running in the surf with his G/f , so he is up and ready to go. I always rated Bendtner, so not too concerned.

We won't be winning any silverware , but we'll be playing at our fluid best. Maybe this year we'll closer, but it doesn't matter.

So I hope Wenger sells, Adebayor(the mule) , Hleb and Flamini has already left to Milan(good on em)

Milan : "Sorry we can't afford to pay"

Galliani says they can't afford to pay what Arsenal would like for Adebayor.

I don't know, did they expect they were gonna get him at like 5 mil ?

Be realistic, when Real came after K@a*K@*a, what did you demand ?

That is why I have always supported Inter in Italy, they might not have been as successful, but I preferred them.

Man City set to confirm Jo deal

Manchester City are set to officially confirm Brazilian striker Jo as their record signing in a deal worth £18m.

City will hold a media conference on Wednesday after receiving clearance to complete the signing of the 21-year-old CSKA Moscow star.

Jo is advised by Kia Joorabchian, who was involved in the Carlos Tevez controversy, and City contacted the Premier League to ratify the deal.

He will be new boss Mark Hughes's first signing since taking over at Eastlands.

A spokesman for Joorabchian had earlier insisted the question of third-party ownership, which has been outlawed by the Premier League, was not responsible for holding up the deal.

In future, clubs will have to buy out all third-party owners so that they own players' registrations completely.

Joorabchian was involved in the Tevez saga following the Argentine's move to West Ham in August 2006 and prior to his switch to Manchester United during the summer of 2007.

The spokesman said: "CSKA Moscow have an agreement in place with his previous club Corinthians, who would collect a certain percentage of the sell-on fee.

"This is not, however, a third-party ownership. It's an arrangement between two clubs and is no different from any other deals that contain such clauses.

"The agreement was put in place when CSKA signed him from the Brazilian club, which is contrary to some reports."

He added: "Kia fully understands the rules regarding third-party ownership and the issue is not holding up any possible transfer."

The Tevez saga began in April 2007 when his former club West Ham were fined for breaching Premier League rules over the signing of the striker and his Argentine team-mate Javier Mascherano in August 2006.

West Ham's response was to tear up an agreement they had with Joorabchian, who claimed to own the striker's economic rights.

But when it emerged Tevez wanted to join United, the Hammers, backed by the Premier League, insisted they should receive the transfer fee, prompting Joorabchian to take legal action.

Joorabchian eventually agreed to pay West Ham £2m to release Tevez from his contract, allowing the Argentine to move to Old Trafford on a similar deal to the one that took Mascherano to Liverpool in January 2007.

Robinho linked with Chelsea move

Chelsea appear to have moved a step closer to signing Robinho after his agent claimed to have held talks with Blues sporting director Frank Arnesen.

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been strongly linked with the Real Madrid striker, 24, since taking over as Chelsea boss.

"It is true Chelsea are interested," Robinho's representative Vagner Ribeiro told Spanish sports daily AS.

"I met with Arnesen in London and he confirmed to me that Chelsea wanted my player for next season."

Brazil star Robinho played an important role in Real's league success last season, scoring 11 goals in 32 games.

He is keen to stay at the club but they reportedly want to sell him to help fund the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United.

"Neither Robinho nor I like the fact that Real Madrid can use him as part exchange in their bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo," said Ribeiro.

"We don't like this attitude and we want Madrid to start valuing Robinho because at the moment they're not.

"Robinho's priority is to continue at Real Madrid, but he cannot stay in a place in which they don't recognise his talent and at the moment Real Madrid are not doing that and I'm not talking about money.

"I'm referring to the fact that they are undervaluing him in comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo."

Inter Milan say £7m Frank Lampard deal is done

Inter Milan last night claimed to have struck a £7m deal for Frank Lampard.

The Italian giants say they have reached agreement with Lampard and Chelsea for the midfielder.

It comes just 24 hours after the Blues signed Portugal star Deco, 31, from Barcelona in a £7.9m deal.

Lampard, 30, has been offered a four-year deal worth £24m in total - and the chance to play abroad and link up again with Jose Mourinho at Inter has proved difficult to resist.

Club president Massimo Moratti has yet to announce Lampard's capture publicly.

But privately Inter say the deal is done and that the England star will be unveiled at the San Siro once he returns from holiday in Sicily at the end of this week.

New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to follow up the Deco deal with a £10m move for Real Madrid's Robinho, according to the Brazilian superstar's agent Vagner Ribeiro.

"It is true that Chelsea are interested in signing Robinho," said Ribeiro.

"They have been for some time, and that interest has become much stronger since Scolari took over as their new manager.

"I have met with Chelsea's sporting director Frank Arnesen in London and he confirmed to me that they want the player for next season.

"Neither Robinho nor myself like that Real are prepared to use him as part of an exchange in their bid to sign Cristiano Ronaldo.

"We do not understand this attitude and we want them to begin to value Robinho - because they are not at the moment.

"Robinho is as good, if not better than Ronaldo. The only difference is that Ronaldo reached the Champions League Final and Robinho did not.

"Robinho's priority is to stay with Real, but he cannot be in a place where he is not valued and for the time being he is not. I'm not talking about money.

"I refer to the fact that he is being undervalued in comparison to Ronaldo."

real madrid are making a mess of things if the way their chasing after ronaldo results in robinho going.what's the chances of him(ronaldo)repeating last season in any way?

That's what they said the season before last, and the result...he scored more.

well chances are if he moves he wont repeat the season

good chance he can do it again at united provide they keep the same sort of setup but moving to a different club where he might not score nearly as many is very possible

for me if i was ronaldo i would move, i mean what more can you achieve in england

Why people keep going on about his goals, his not a striker. If he goes to Real Madrid and doesnt score one goal but does an amazing performance in his position then his has a good season.

Only reason he scored so many goals is the lack of a striker in manchester united. The guy will be living his dream playing for real madrid so its the perfect move for him.

He scored many goals and Rooney became slapgat cos of that. I wish Ronaldo to go just to prove that Rooney will score lots of goals next season.

Villa: I Want To Stay At Valencia

The Spain striker joined his Ché and Villarreal international team-mates on the balcony of the Valencia town hall to celebrate their part in Spain's European Championships victory.

Amid chants of 'Villa don't go' the striker explained that he did not want to leave, despite all the interest in him from some of Europe's major clubs.

"I am very grateful and I am very happy here. I hope to stay here. The president should be thanked for wanting to keep the best playres and to make a great team," he explained.

"I have always felt wanted by the fans and I have several years left on my contract and want to see them out."

Club president, Agustín Morera, reiterated that Valencia were prepared to whatever they could to fend off the interested parties after hearing the fans plead for Villa not to be sold.

"I heard it perfectly. We had offers last year, we have had more this year and we continue to receive them. Our plan is to keep him and we will try and do this," he added.

Raúl Albiol has been honoured for his part in Spain's victory after having a street named after him by the Villamarchante council, the town where he was born.
