Lmao. I kinda feel sorry for Juve, they are really trying to sign a big name player but then they end up with the likes of Tiago, Sissoko and Amuari(who's kind of good but not really a big name in world football)[/QUOTE

Amauri is a great player. Has been since his palermo days. There's a reason Brazil and Italy (the most succesfull football nations of all time) are fighting to have him play for them.

Gees I never said he wasn't a great player. I never said sissoko wasn't a great player. what I said was that Juve always try to sign big name players but almost never succeed.

By big name players I mean your Ronaldo's your K.a.K.a's, Messi's etc. Sorry but Amuari is not on their level when it comes to being a big name.

You serie a guys sure are sensitive:p

Out of the three players I mention Amuari is actually the only player I rate highly.

Carlos Tevez May Leave Manchester United, Admits Ferguson

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that he believes Carlos Tevez may leave the club.

Tevez is nearing the end of his loan agreement at Old Trafford but United appear reluctant to pay the £32 million transfer fee and there have also been reports about disagreements over the striker’s wage demands.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for the Argentinean, including Real Madrid and Manchester City, and for the first time the United boss has admitted Tevez may leave the champions.

“We will just work our way through it and that’s all we can do,” the Scot told the Daily Star Sunday.

“If it happens, it happens. If it doesn’t, we will just have to move on. It’s unfortunate, but that’s life.

“Carlos wants to stay. He’s happy here. I think he’s actually said that to the players.”

Yet having lost his place in the first team following the arrival of Dimitar Berbatov from Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, it would be little surprise if Tevez did leave Old Trafford.

Despite being an integral part of the team last season and helping United win both the Premier League and Champions League, Tevez has made only eight league starts this season, scoring twice.

The Argentinean will also miss today’s FA Cup third round clash with Southampton at St Mary’s having been granted leave to return to South America for family reasons.

Carlos Tevez Admits He Could Leave Manchester United

"My future? I don't know. Manchester (United) know what they have to pay if they want me to stay," he told Radio Del Plata.

"It bothers me that they are messing about with the fans, who give me their affection in each game.

"It must be made clear that I haven't received an offer. And if I leave the club I want to do so feeling good."

Pompey accept Spurs bid for Defoe

Portsmouth have accepted a bid from Tottenham to sign their 26-year-old striker Jermain Defoe.

Harry Redknapp originally lured Defoe from White Hart Lane to Pompey for about £7.5m in 2008 when the Spurs manager was in charge at Fratton Park.

"Portsmouth can confirm a fee has been agreed with Tottenham for Jermain Defoe," read a statement from Pompey.

The deal, which is expected to be in the region of £15m, sees Defoe return to the club he left under one year ago.

Any deal for Defoe would also have to take into account monies owed to Tottenham by Portsmouth in deals for Younes Kaboul and Pedro Mendes.

Defoe had also been linked with moves to Manchester City and Aston Villa.

Redknapp is also keen to sign a left-sided midfielder in the current transfer window, but Middlesbrough have already rejected a £6m bid for Stewart Downing from Spurs

whoa that's nice... leave a team less than a year ago only to go back and earn a bigger salary? sounds like some of the guys I've worked with in my lifetime :D

Arsenal 'interested in Arshavin

Arsenal have shown an interest in signing highly rated forward Andrei Arshavin, Zenit St Petersburg's coach Dick Advocaat has confirmed.

Arshavin, 27, has been linked with a £20m move to the Gunners following his impressive performances at Euro 2008.

"I am aware that Arsenal are interested but I don't know any more than that," said Dutchman Advocaat.

"I'm expecting Arshavin to leave. He's a top player and could play for any of the top teams in England."

Advocaat added: "Arshavin played well for us last season but he didn't play as well as he can. There's still more to come from him and people will see that."

The Russian season ended in November with unfashionable Rubin Kazin claiming their maiden domestic title, with the 2007 champions Zenit languishing in fifth

In December Arshavin's agent told BBC Sport that Zenit and the player, who was linked with a move to Tottenham in the summer, had agreed that he should find a new club in January.

"He will definitely move in January or the player and club will lose money," said agent Dennis Lachter.

"Zenit and Andrei understand that it is time for them to part from each other."

But Lachter denied reports that the player had visited both the training grounds of Arsenal and Spurs on a recent trip to London.

http://www.101greatgoals.com/2009/01/its-2009-and-the-world-has-gone-mad-a-tale-of-two-transfers-defoe-and-pennant/

It’s 2009 and the world has gone mad: a tale of two transfers (Defoe and Pennant)

The transfer window has come to life with Tottenham’s (re)purchase of Jermain Defoe. Defoe has the distinct honour of being loved and missed by both Tottenham fans and manager Harry Redknapp. Ever since Juande Ramos sold Defoe in January 2008 Spurs fans have been chanting his name at both home and away games whilst ‘appy Harry has now managed the striker at three different clubs.

Despite the fans and the manager’s delight with their acquisition, the one man who must surely be pulling his hair out is Mr Prudence himself, Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy. How he likes to crow about his brilliant negotiating skills. Levy always takes the time to remind us all of how he eked out £32 million from Manchester United for Berbatov and £20 million from Liverpool for Robbie Keane.

Well Mr Prudence, originally you bought Defoe for £7 million then he was sold for £7.5 million and now you have got him back for the princely sum of £15.75 million. I’m no mathematician or accountant but I think that totals a loss of £15.25 million; it’s just unbelievable.

You also have Darren Bent who was purchased for £16.5 million and Pavlyuchenko who came in for £14 million. It’s back to the same old problem for Tottenham, three strikers who consider themselves first choice and only two starting spots. How on earth will you make a profit on either of those two?

What is even crazier is that Defoe’s value has doubled in one year. We are in the midst of a credit crunch, the world’s economies are suffering from deflationary pressures and yet we have found an asset that will double in value in these tough times.

I am sure that someone will remind me that Defoe’s scoring average for Portsmouth was almost one goal in every two games, but were his displays really worth a £8.25 million mark up?

As for what is going on at AC Milan I am momentarily lost for words (hang on)….ok here it goes. How on earth is Jermaine Pennant, an average player at best being linked with AC Milan? Ronaldinho will be thrilled.

I almost collapsed when I read that Real Madrid had shown an interest in acquiring him. They must be absolutely desperate for players. But Pennant? A footballer who has never ever lived up to his ability or looked like doing so? Pull the other one.

If reports are to be believed the reason that the transfer broke down was due to Pennant insisting that he was worth £60,000 a week rather than the £35,000 per week that was being offered. I don’t want to get personal but when Pennant wakes up in the morning and looks in the mirror I wonder who he sees?

The self delusion continues and what is even more galling is that Pennant found it within himself to look this gift-horse in the mouth and still turn them down. No, he prefers hanging out with the Liverpool reserve team at some non-descript Rugby League ground to the chance of playing the matador to the thronging crowds at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Someone please explain to me why anyone would want to touch a player with such extensive disciplinary problems? He was discarded by Wenger, no mean judge of talent, for late time keeping and negatively influencing Ashley Cole (as if he needed it). At Birmingham he was convicted of drink driving whilst being on a 16 month driving ban. His stupidity was compounded when he gave his name to the officer who pulled him over as Ashley Cole. Finally at Liverpool he was arrested for a Section 5 public order offence as a result of a domestic dispute.

Pennant must be reading his stars correctly there is no other explanation; he must have known that AC Milan would be the next club to be beat a path to his door and that is why he priced himself out of a move to Madrid.

The former club of Rivera, Baresi, Gullitt, van Basten and Shevchenko, a club that has won 7 European Cups and 17 League titles is close to resembling a circus.

Beckham’s transfer was greeted with bemusement from the Rosseoneri fans, now try imagining how they will greet Pennant’s arrival. They definitely won’t be saying “oh that’s great we finally have the missing piece of the puzzle. With Pennant here ***a, Ronaldinho, Pato and Pirlo can finally shine.”

Furthermore, I am beginning to wonder if AC Milan’s scouts actually watch the Premiership or are they shopping in Milan’s famous boutiques?

During pre-season AC Milan brought in Philipe Senderos on a season long loan. At Arsenal he was groomed to become the new Tony Adams. The fans even gave him the nickname of “Swiss Tony”. Apart from one good run in the 2005-2006 season, an absolutely plastered Tony Adams would have been a better bet than Senderos who was constantly out-thought, outrun and out-muscled by every attacking player it was his responsibility to mark.

It’s just too much for me to take. 2009 has begun

I doubt any of them will even go for 100. There are certain players that you just cannot buy - also not all players are after money.

Robinho springs to mind.

The only realistic one I can see happening is David Villa as the rest are too loyal to their teams (that's not to say that Villa is not loyal to his team) and are recieving huge pay packets already (not sure about Messi though).

That reminds me, what is Messi getting a week, I would think that it is considerably lower than the likes of Terry, ***a, Gerrard, Eto.........

Anyway, I would think that Villa would be tempted by the money unlike the others.

Last week Villa said he would like to end his career at Valencia. The clubs financial problems might think otherwise.

I know Messi's contract was revised this season. Maybe Supasta can get us that info on his weekly wage.

BREAKING NEWS: Blackburn Reject Manchester City Bid For Roque Santa Cruz
Blackburn Rovers have rejected a £12 million plus bid from Manchester City for Roque Santa Cruz.

City boss Mark Hughes was at the Ewood Park helm previously and bought the Paraguayan forward from Bayern Munich for just £3.5m.

Despite the inflated potential fee - which is said to be 'significantly higher' than the £12m offered previously - the under-fire Welsh gaffer is nevertheless desperate to land the 27-year-old.

"We have made an improved bid - a substantial bid - and it was rejected," Hughes told Sky Sports.

"We still want to bring Roque Santa Cruz to the club if we can, but he's still Blackburn's player and at the moment they don't want to deal at the level we are at.

"We bid £12million in the summer and it (the latest offer) was significantly higher than that.

"We will make any future decisions in regards to their response."

The player inked a new deal in the summer and his contract has four years to run. New boss Sam Allardyce, of course, will be loathe to lose the club's star man.

For now, then, Santa Cruz remains in Lancashire.
