SunSpace preparing for launch

The launch campaign for SumbandilaSat will start in all earnest this weekend (22 August 2009) when a team from SunSpace will start unpacking SumbandilaSat at the Baikonur launch site in Kazakhstan and begin testing the satellite in preparation for integration with the launch vehicle. Launch is scheduled for 15 September.

I am not hearing good things here at the Stellenbosch engineering faculty... We'll see :P

Cudos to the SunSpace team for building a satellite with less than, what is it, $3 million? That's like 100 times less than NASA usually requires.

SA may yet show the world how it should be done.

The SunSpace team have been around a long time now. Good luck to them for keeping at it when funds are hard to come by. Even with all the challenges in our universities, South Africa is still producing engineers of a high calibre.

sounds good and they build it way cheaper. ok whats next a internet relay sat?
