No doubt their sport channel offerings is going to be rather uncompetitive until the years of contract on major sports is up for Supersport. And then SS might still have the edge in price they can offer. Take the PSL as an example.

I wonder how large a segment of the viewing market DSTV has cornered because of their SS deals? I too would love HBO and SyFy channels but I won't switch to a different operator and lose out on my sport and there's no way I'll pay for two subscriptions, in other words no sport = no switch

Van Zyl added that customers can expect Video on Demand (VoD) and additional content through the IPTV service.

Since billing is such an issue it is thus logical to expect that VoD and "additional content" will be free, mahala, gratis as there is a cost involved in providing statements for so many customers...

Please, don't let the cell phone companies, municipalities, banks etc read this bullshyte! We might all have to pay exactly the same, no matter how many calls we make, how much water we use or how many EFTs you make...

Even Telkom can do that!!

Agreed, the sport is a major and considering we are a sport mad nation i think that Naspers may just have the edge here............:erm:

Don't be silly dude.hbo is a network full of (different) licensed content,some of which you already get here.Any hbo feed outside the US is a stripped down version and/or just a HBO-branded joint venture.

I call bs on the complexity of offering customers the option of choosing their own channels. Give each channel a price per month let us choose and then add them together.... DA DAAAA.

While I agree with you, complexity was not the directly quoted reason given:

One thing seems set in stone IMO: Super 5 Media will be using Telkodemonopolies' billing systems & ripoff models.

I would like to know what will happen to SA sport attendance figures after 2010 - will the improved stadiums result in more people attending live events, and less people willing to pay MonoChoice 500 per month every month for the rest of their lives, or will there be a few hostages that will choose events to attend and not spend as much time in front of the rectangular home arrest box, of course there are international sporting events but not everyone watches those.

Maybe the SABC will use that 1% tax to take MonoChoice to court and broadcast sporting events [fpr a 1% tax that is ].
