WP:

Win Point

If you correctly predict the outcome of a match (the correct winning team, or a draw), you will earn a Win Point.

During round robin / league games, the WP is typically valued at

1 pt
But, it can rise to 1.5, 2 or 3 in knockout stages to reflect the greater difficulty in picking winners amongst more competitive teams.

If you miss a pick, you can still earn a WP through a default pick. A default is a pick for the team the community most expects to win. You are eligible for 7 default picks in Super Rugby Predictor.

MP:

Margin Point

If your margin prediction is within 5 of the actual margin, you will earn a Margin Point valued at:

0.5 pt
You can earn a MP even if your outcome is wrong in close situations: e.g. if you pick the Blue team by 2 and the Red team wins by 1, your margin prediction is 3 away from the actual margin and you qualify for MP. Any pick of the Blue team by more than 4 would not qualify.

BP:

Bonus Point

If you get the outcome right and your margin prediction is the closest in your pool and within 15 points of the actual margin, you will score a Bonus Point valued at:

1 pt
But, if more than one player qualifies, the BP is shared, down to a minimum value of 0.25pts.

Because each pool contains different players, your pick might be the closest in one pool but not in another. You'll earn BP in the first but not in the second.

If you join a pool late, your existing picks will be carried into the pool but you won't earn any historic Bonus Points. Instead you'll see DNQ (Did Not Qualify) in the results displays.

The Bonus Point is only used inside pools: not on the global or country leaderboards.

GSP:

Grand Slam Point

If you correctly predict the outcome of every match in a round, you will score a Grand Slam Point. GSP value can vary by round. In Super Rugby Predictor the GSP values are:

Value Rounds
2.00 pts From Round 1 to 19
0.00 pts From Round 20 to 22
There is no GSP if there are fewer than 4 matches in a round and it is typically not used in knockout rounds.

You won't qualify for a GSP if you default (miss a pick but get a default pick for the most popular team) on one or more games in a round.

Tries everywhere. I have a suspicion that the Lions may prove the Cheetahs wrong, or to see both teams scoring tries in the abundance. I called the Lions to plunder the Cheetahs, but it is likely to see a bonus point going to both teams.

I've gone with a cheetahs win based on currie cup performance and lion key players only returning a while ago... whatever the result it's going to be the highlight of the weekend for me

Kolbe to wing it for Stormers

HL Stormers coach Robbie Fleck has named Cheslin Kolbe on the right wing for Saturday’s opening Vodacom Super Rugby clash with the Vodacom Bulls at Newlands.

Kolbe has played most of his rugby at fullback for the Stormers but was switched to the wing for the pre-season warm-up game against the Emirates Lions a couple of weeks ago and did well in that position. At the same time, newcomer SP Marais, who has arrived in the Cape after stints at the Kings, Sharks and the Bulls, played well at fullback, and that appears to have swayed Fleck into the selection.

“We looked at a number of factors, in particular our kicking options, regarding left and right combinations and the make-up of our halfback options for this game. Seabelo Senatla is not quite ready to play just yet, and I think SP Marais has done really well since joining us,” said Fleck.

“There weren’t any problems with the high ball or anything like that regarding Cheslin, it was just about picking the best back three combination and we think this is it.”

For me the game of the weekend will also be Lions Cheetahs, though I don't think the Cheetahs will do very well in the overall competition this year. Personal opinion is that the Cheetahs for some reason can't make that step up to a international competition even though they consistently do well in the local front in the CC.

Well, I didn't, didn't even really consider him, stupidly. He's got some Sevens experience under his belt, and he'll be running off SBW soon. Imagine that combination... This Blues side has a lot of firepower.

I had Akira Ioane, Folau & Naholo shortlisted for my picks for player with most tries. Ended up going for Folau with the perceived weakness of the Aus conference and the apparent strength of the Waratahs.

Yeah, and Folau just always manages to score tries, even if the Waratahs aren't playing well.

Although, having watched some of the Brisbane Tens highlights, Shaun Stevenson is something of a magician. One to keep an eye on.

There are so many potential top try scorers this season amongst the Kiwis. The new youngster, George Bridge, at the Crusaders is apparently a try scorer machine. He is also selected to start on debut against the Brumbies.
