Super slow torrent downloads

my torrent downloads suddenly became extremely slow from one day to the next, was getting +400kb/s on my afrihost uncapped account, then suddenly, i don't get more than 12kb/s.
i've tried everything... changing settings, reseting my router, unistalled utorrent, installed bittorrent, restarted bittorrent, restarted computer, cleared space on harddrive...

i havn't downloaded more than 40gb on my account, and i havn't found a thread dealing with this, so if someone can point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it...
 
Nothing to do with your settings so relax, it has everything to do with afrihost ;)

40GB, you are over your 30GB limit and now throttled/shaped to hell.
 
Your uncapped just got "capped", in terms of speed anyways.

Poor show from Afrihost tbh.
 
my internet is still fast tho, if i try to dl a youtube vid, it sometimes reaches +200kb/s...

woke up this mornin... was downloading at 150kb/s.... dunno wats goin on anymore
 
Im with Mweb and they have throttled me to less than 50kbs if I go near rapidshare etc Ihave used 11gb this mnth which is a lot for me but wow 50kb.

mweb rep said they don't throttle customers ... maybe pm him and ask him whats up ?
 
The problem with all these complicated shaping/throttling conditions being applied is , now no one really knows wtf is happening on their lines anymore. We don't know is it our Telkom Line, is it the upstream line taking strain, is the ISP doing something or is your router/PC doing something wrong.

I expect alot more of these types of complaints coming from all ISP users. Even to the OP, Afrihost have a policy in place regarding throttling/shaping , but it's either not applied consistently or the upstream [IS] provider taking strain is muddling up the issue. So people are immediately assuming they're throttled if their speeds drop, yet we've seen quite a few times how the entire country experience slow downs if some place in Saudi Arabia lose power......or simply maintenance being done somewhere on the SAT3 line and this entire country is suddenly isolated from the world.

International connectivity went down -completely- every night (for 10 minutes to 60 minutes a shot) during the easter weekend. Now that was not Afrihost, everyone experienced it in some form.

Mweb 4MB uncapped tested at http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php shows no throttling at all.

Is TCP traffic on a well-known BitTorrent port (6883) throttled?

On a side note, those numbers make no sense.
