This morning while buying breakfast at PicknPay I decided to ask them for a SmartShopper card which they then explained to me how to activate - quite easy actually.

Which other supermarkets offer loyalty/reward programs?

Shopping is getting expensive so I might as well start using these things.

Some Super Spar's have a rewards card, but you can only use it at the branch that you get it from. Rather silly if you ask me. As far as I know PnP is the only one that has got a proper rewards card.

Clicks clubcard. Although clicks is usually more expensive than dischem.

Dischem card.

have most of the Discovery Vitality Loyalty Healthy Eating cards...get about 300 bucks back a month from Woolies...Clicks, around R150 per rewards cycle...have about 16 bucks on the Pick n Pay card.

Clicks 3 for 2 deals are awesome. Just their product range can be lacking at times.

Checkers use a funny system. You install a app, then look for products you get discount on, buy the item, and then generate a discount number at the till.

eBucks + SmartShopper (not worth much) + Discovery Vitality = lots of money back per month

The problem with me moving from Standard to FNB for the eBucks is it will take me ages to move from tier 1 and I'd pretty much have to indebt myself by using their offerings to do so. So its not really feasible for me personally

Tier 3 is relatively easy to get to, and can still offer decent rewards. I mean, what is Standard Bank giving you now? Something, or nothing? FNB will give you more than nothing, but you do have to learn to play the game. Do the right things to get your reward level up, and then use your cards wisely. You can make a decent amount of eBucks back.

Smartshopper is peanuts. Have started using Checkers only for the ebucks 15%

I was getting 10% back on PnP with smartshopper/discovery, but then I had to jump through too many hoops to stay on diamond - and could only use the resulting points at pnp

ebucks works much better for me, since I earn them anywhere, and 15% at checkers and on fuel, prepaid elec and airtime, and then I use that to get 40% off makro vouchers for big purchases.

If a company is giving you something back for free, you are not the client, you are the product.

PnP Smartshopper is reaaly a gimmick. 1000 points = R1.00. You have to spend a *****e full of money before it really amounts to anything at all.

OK, I didn't know about the Checkers Eezivoucher one. Just looking at it it could save us as a family between 10 and 20 percent per month.

But WTF does "redeem all" mean? Does it mean I want to buy everything they have a voucher for?

And if you try to follow all the rewards programs you will need two wallets or more for the cards :p
