looking to take up Vumutel and debating on which of the following two ISPs to go for
similar prices but beyond that does anyone have preference?

Supersonic or Cool Ideas?

currently on Afrihost
i know i know

@cavedog Not sure if he’s still struggling to get connected on supersonic

I would personally choose cool ideas considering they solve problems in record time

Been connected since Jan 4.

On Vumatel I would recommend Supersonic by the tests that have been posted. CISP is also good.

Basically boils down to one thing. Installation fee. If you want it free from the very first month and 1 month free fibre then Supersonic is your option. The installation fee has a 24 month claw back pro rata so the longer you stay the less you pay but you can cancel any time.

CISP you would need to pay Vumatel for the installation and then CISP monthly.

Both have pretty decent networks so you can't go wrong either way.

Home connect could also be a decent option.

Thank God you came to your senses and dropping Afrihost with their joke of an FUP

so with Supersonic its free installation calculated over duration of 24 months? if i stay that long?

with CISP i pay the R1725 upfront to Vumutel and then the package to CISP

doesnt that make Supersonic slightly better in terms of return?

can i also use my own router or must i use the one they provide

Well yes you will be saving a bit.

Take R1725 / 24 is ~R72 that will be deducted on a monthly basis basically. So the longer you stay the less you have to pay back when canceling. You also get the 1st month free so there is that saving too so depending on which package you take the free month could also be seen as an installation fee offset should you wish to cancel after say 2 months.

They supply a free to use Zyxel router but you can also use your own router if you want.

what is the time frame for the whole migration
once i have contacted Vumutel to its operation with CI or Supersonic?

will i have downtime in between ie no net?

Is it aerial or trenched Vumatel?

dont Vumutel need to come around and do something ie installation thats R1725?
i really dont want any form of downtime without internet

There will be delays. Dont buy the "its immediate" nonsense. And then CI will simply tell you its not their problem, but Vumatels.

thanks
i really want the minimal downtime as possible
with kids the TV and net is imperative to have at all times
