there is a very expensive machine at my work. Lab machine connected to a fat ups which is over 3 years old now.

Do you know if i could connect any surge protectors to the ups and lab machine?

What is a good surge protector in south africa and how long does it last?

Thanks

A surge protector lasts until it gets shizzled by a surge of some sort :p

I like the APC surge protectors, they're pretty cool. A 4-plug + RJ11 costs R200. (Sybaritic, Rebeltech, etc)

ok i suppose what i need is a power filter that manages to capture power spikes and sags, these filters normally have a limited lifespan iirc.

Does these power filters do their job effectively, you don't find people talking about them too often

thanks

It would be a good idea to install a surge arrestors in the distribution board. If the the machine is really expensive you could consider using automatic voltage regulator (AVR) ideally with an isolation transformer.

thanks. The machine is over half a million bucks.

Have to make sure we keep it free of un necissary power surges and sags. Wish I understood more about electricity to make an informed decision regarding the options available.

Thanks for your info

In that case I will look at an UPS.
