Good day,

Firstly, apologies if this has been discussed a few times already - just could not find what I was looking for.

I am currently using a MiBox S 4k for entertainment (movies, music & series - no gaming) and would like to get a surround sound system to suit. Currently using an older model (2016) Samsung DVD Home Theater system with a Bluetooth adapter but this is not the best sound quality and the adapter dies rather quickly.

What would be the best way for me to get quality audio from this box and what type of audio system should I be looking for?

Thanks

No SPDIF or Toslink on the Mibox. Looks like you are limited to using the HDMI connection for audio.
I suggest you checkout or ask on the Mibox thread which is elsewhere on this forum.

Can you not plug the Mi into the receiver via HDMI, then connect receiver to the TV?

If ur receiver has hdmi capabilities then its possible otherwise u are stuck with stereo

An HDMI sound bar with ARC support would be the best bet.

If you want full blown surround a home theatre in a box setup like those from Onkyo or Yamaha would also work.

I checked the specs of the DVD player, it only has one HDMI out which is meant to go to the TV.
You can only use the 3.5mm stereo option to connect the MI tv box to the player.

If it supports ARC then you should be able to connect the Mi Box to the TV and have it feed sound back to the DVD player/surround thing.

*******

According to the link it does.

So make sure DVD player is connected to the ARC port on TV side (there is only one and it will be marked).

Make sure HDMI-CEC etc is enabled on TV and anything related on DVD player side.

Sound should then come down from the TV and any devices connected to it through the sound system.

MiBox connected to one of the other tv ports will also feed through ARC channel.

Awesome, will do it this afternoon. Thanks

I use the ARC feature, it's pretty awesome. MiBox to the TV, TV setup to output to ARC, ARC to the sound device. Done.

So update:

There was no ARC Port on the TV. Fortunately I had an Aux to 2 x Male audio cable in the house. Plugged that straight from the MiBox to the Aux 2 Input on the Home Theater and "Bobs your uncle" working perfectly.

How old is this TV? Model?

I could never get surround sound working on the lit box nor the other chinese variants using plex and kodi. Was going to a pioneer amp via optical and/or coax. No dyce.

Hooked up the xbox one s via optical to the pioneer and it all just worked flawlessly all of a sudden.

Audio will be stereo, but glad it all worked out.
