Yeah, can you imagine the guy having to explain to his better half that he's just been fired over a joke e-mail. I'd be more scared of her than the company :D
 
If i was the sys admin tasked with proving whether the dump racists pig was guilty i would simply frame him if he was not the first one to foward the email .... just to make an example of him ..........
 
I wonder what the reaction would have been if the roles were reversed. Looks to me more like farm children playing, all in innocence. As usual another matter blown out of proportion. Anyway I agree about the comment, it was out of place in this time and age and therefore the reason for the outcry.
 
I also fail to see the intended racism. The email was meant to illustrate that in his day they had fun without expensive toys.

As I said. Many of the games we played on the farm in the old days with our black friends would be taken the same way, completely out of context today.
 
Where I work this would probably have resulted in dismissal. Rules in respect of use of email is extremely tight, and I support it.

As a general rule I am usually quite circumspect about what I open, read and/or pass along. The amount of crud which is sent along is mind blowing. People do not delete previous senders details. So usually the only three recipients would ever be my wife, sister in law and a good mate. And even then I think twice about it. Forwarding stuff is often a career ending move ;)
 
Well I thought is was funny when I got it. Does that mean that I'm a complete racist now?

O I also laugh at those white trash wall mart emails I get, should people not be dismissed for that as well. Then comedians should also be apprehended as they make race related jokes all the time.

Any person that takes this seriously should grow up and get a life.
 
Oh damn another wave of white guilt overcomes me.....

Yeah all i have to do is look at the sender name and I'll know whether its work-related or forwards, except when my boss sends me forwards. I take those home and check it there.

and when guys send NSFW mails in our office the subject usually says something about "trees" so the recipient knows to check behind them before opening
