I also wanted to buy a Swift back in the day but the price for what you get just too much, hence got a Getz instead.. don't know how the new Swifts run but if I had some spare cash around this would be on top of my list!

Good Japanese reliability. After the demise of Daihatsu locally I would say Suzuki is filling their role rather well at the "small car experts".

Awesome little vehicle that. I like it too.

There's a dealership across the road from me. I went and had a look around on Saturday. The Swift/Jimny are nice. I'll speak to them about finance options soon.

@ToxicBunny - Not into Daihatsu. Just don't like them.

A proper "warm hatch" rivalry is the 1.6 N/A 100kw Swift Sport vs 1.4T 103kw Sonic RS









The lovely Car Mag tested both in a shoot out a good few months back & even though the Swift lost out a bit due to its N/A engine & zero infotainment system over the RS it still won ultimately as the better all rounder & more fun car.

DafuQ???????????? Swift is R239K??? Hell no, rather buy a Fiesta ST then. Trumps them both in all departments by miles anyway.

I had a Grand Vitara a couple of years ago, excellent car very reliable.

Only problem I had was that stuff like break pads and shocks were not easily available, so you had to buy them from the dealer / agent at a inflated price.

I took a bit of a beating on the resale as well.

The new Suzuki Swift will offer buyers fuel consumption better than some three-cylinder micro cars. Claimed fuel consumption has been reduced by almost 13 per cent to just 5.5 litres per 100km for the manual model, 0.8L/100km less than its 1.5-litre predecessor.

The four-speed automatic version is also much more efficient with claimed consumption of 6.2L/100km – down 0.4L/100km.

Powered by a new, smaller 1.4-litre engine, the new Swift isn’t as powerful as its 1.5-litre predecessor, yet it sees big improvements due to clever engineering – unlike some manufacturers, though, Suzuki has steered away from the turbo trend, instead opting for a range of internal engine revisions.

Bigger new Swift, smaller fuel bill

Not too bad at all. For me that's a big selling point.
