Suzuki vehicles - opinions?

The Suzuki Swift is a good fun to drive little car with good dynamics handling. This is the Swift's strongest suits, it grips well in corners and suffers from little body lean. The down side is the small boot and the rear legroom is quite cramped. As for the interior there are some hard plastics.

I'm really considering a new car for the summer (my current car doesn't have AC).

I saw that Suzuki have a 'special' on the Swift 1.2 GA MT for 118k ZAR.

I was anticipating some of the omitted features; electric windows, alloys...but no rev counter? And no "Radio Tuner (9khz) + CD + USB + Steering Switch + Illumination Control"?

Bought, fixed and sold nearly two dozen Swifts in the last year and a half. Great little cars.

Nippy, reliable, very light on fuel, low hijack risk. I'd compare it to the polo vivo. But if you with the Swift Sport or Swift GLS - you get a bit extra with the steering control, climate control, usb, etc

Got my wife a Swift Sport 1.6, great runaround city car. Bootspace is limited and the Swift Sport has no spare wheel (they give a puncture repair kit which sucks)

FYI

The swift 1.2 is a Made in India model - its a bit more plasticky inside, seems a bit 'cheaper' and obviously the 1.2 is a performance downgrade.

That said the 1.5 is made in Japan and just feels alot better.

You come with 130k cash and you can have my 2014 Swift Sport (with service plan) :D

Somebody posted somewhere else about the removal of safety bars & such in the cheaper versions. Forget that then & the price jump just seems too much though to the 1.4 (~18k), nevermind the 1.6.

Carazy car prices everywhere though. Not just Suzuki.
 
I have the 2011 1.5 and is a great car. No problems. Got nearly 70k out of the factory tired.



Only negative thing is the boot space. Wouldn't have gotten it if we knew we were going to have a child

What is it is like to own you say?

Around town:
Absolute pleasure, it has a ridiculously small turning circle which makes it a joke to park.

Highway:
Surprisingly capable, no problem in cruising at 120, though overtaking trucks becomes a bit more adventurous.

Practicalities:
The boot is small, but this isn't a car that you buy for hauling passengers and their luggage across the country.
Driving:
This is where the Alto shines, it is a lot of fun to drive. The little engine is what I would describe as spirited, meaning you hear a little growl every now and then. The best part is you can do all the racing starts you want and you will still have better economy than bigger cars.

You should at least get a test drive in one.

The girlfriend loves her alto. And I have to agree, that growl is sexy

I bought our Alto in 2010. We still have it, and it is still going strong. Not a days problem.
