Guy told me yesterday that swiping tyres around make them last longer.

I use to replace 2 at a time.
I told him if swiping tyres you will have to replace 4. He said yes but after much more kilos.

Is this so.

My car rotates it's own tyres ...
(862 RPM @ 100km/h)

yep rotate...on modern Alfa's with natural negative camber...and more when lowered...you need to rotate the fronts...

like this...

Right rear to right front
Right front to left rear
Left rear to left front
Left Front to right rear...My dad taught me that...and I just spinned all his tyres klaaa!

LOL NO DUDE

front left to rear left
front right to rear right

Tires have a tread and it needs to go in one direction - if you swap left and right then your tires are the wrong way around!! :erm:

(unless of course, you take the tyres off the rim completely :D)

DUDE if you read right you'll realise its the same...moral of the long story, rear tyres go to the front and vice versa...same thing mate!

or no...you're right...left rear to right front...right rear to left front...thus it still keep same rotation pattern...shot dude!

yes, but only if you strip the tires off completely and put them on the other rims - if you're plain just rotating tyres ALONG with the rims, aka, the easy way, you should not let left & right wheels cross

I edited the post...just check my last one before this..you're right

no it won't, if left and right cross your wheels will be rotating backwards

so right right and left left...lol I'm confused now...don't even know where my rifht middle finger is now!

there we go.

yeah the way you rotate is:

Right front to right rear
left front to left rear

The reason they will "last" longer is because either you car is front wheel driven or rear wheel driven or all wheel drive with a bias to the rear. So wheels that provide the drive will tend to wear out faster then the other wheels.

So when you rotate, you ensure they wear out equally.

I typically ask the dealer to rotate them when i take the car for a service.

lol dude it's easy!

if you swap your left rear right with your right (rear) left it will be rotating forwards but if you swap front and back to the left it will rotate backwards unless of course if you reverse which of course will be the correct way for 1/2 of your tires, unless of course they are new tires on the front installed backwards and you aren't driving in reverse.

and that my friends, is how you confuse someone. ;)

Yeah must rotate your tires. Just had 2 replaced last week
