Switch back to old firmware.. 5102G Router

Hi, I found this firmware link. This comes from Billion.com. It is for ANNEX_A, version v2.7.0.23(ZUE0.B1)3.3.2.5, and was released on 05/03/2006. Check out the actual page if you interested here. The model they give is BiPAC 5102G, I don't know if it is the same type of hardware though. I haven't tried this firmware, but perhaps it may be what you need :)

They have for ANNEX_B there aswell, but I have the same router (Telkom ADSL 5102G), and in my settings it says ANNEX_A...

For those with Telkom 5102 and want to implement a pppoe logon with bridged interface - i.e. you can also pppoe to another connection, try this firmware version. Just done it and it works just fine for me on 384 b/s connection.

Remember, YOU take responsibility for flashing your router!
 
Bedkik how did you manage to flash your router? I am curious because only the Billion Techs can actually flash the 5102 router. They have to open the router and connector a speacial adapter from Billion to flash this router. So where did you get your flash file and this adapter? :confused:

IIRC there is a menu option on the 5102G to upgrade the firmware - no need for special adapter or opening the router. I have changed the firmware on my model a few times with no problems. Are you referring to something else?
 
Just checked om my 5102G - I am currently running version 2.7.0.29(ZUE0.B1)3.3.2.5 which seems later than the link above and also allows half bridge connections.

under maintenece is an option to upgrade firmware.

Just semantics. AFAIK the process of updating the firmware on a devices non-volatile memory is generally referred to as "flashing" the device. I am however open to correction on this and obviously the "flashing" you are referring to is something different.:)
 
normally, embedded device software (firmware) consists of a bootloader and one or more OS/applications. you should only need a cable if:
a) there is a problem with the bootloader
b) if there isn't enough storage space on the device to store both the old and new version of software, and an error occurs during the upgrade
