Switch Owners - Is it worth it?

So i'm seriously considering getting myself a Switch now. Got 3 weeks of leave coming up in December so would come in handy.

Will have to be on be on contract of some sort though and see that FNB has the Lite for R199 and Switch V1 for R299. My PS3 is collecting dust though as the controller is finally bust. I'm beginning to get a real urge to sink my teeth into a good solid game and quite frankly I'm not interested in the modern shooter. The only game that would get me to pick up an Xbox is GTA 6 which is some time away still.
I had a blast playing Mario on the Wii and honestly find the Nintendo line up more appealing.
Not too keen on the game/accessory pricing but something like Zelda or Mario would last me a long time anyway. The angel on my shoulder has joined the devil in convincing me to finally get one

Really digging Luigi's Mansion 3 at the moment. Probably the best graphics on the system.

Seen some really good reviews of that. Arlo raved about it on Youtube.

What's the Nintendo indie library like? And pricing?

Indies are amazing on Switch, lots of them are uncompromised ports (1080p/60fps docked, 720p/60fps portable) meaning you're getting arguably the best experience because it's portable. And pricing is good on the portables too, I just download them from the eshop.

Cuphead
Ori and the Blind Forest
Celeste
Wargroove
My Friend Pedro
Steamworld Dig 2
Oxenfree
Undertale
Superhot
Into the Breach
Untitled Goose Game
Wonder Boy and the Dragon's Trap
Etc...

I haven't touched my Switch since getting back from travelling. Really want to invest some time into BoTW because what I've played so far has been awesome. Just need to find the time.

Really enjoying BoTW. Finished the final boss with only 20% of the game completed. Expected it to allow me to go back and explore but couldn't. Ended up reloading the the last save and going back in to explore the rest of the game. Also ended up buying the expansion pack and currently on 43% completion.

That’s weird. I held back on the final boss for ages and when I did go and beat it, I went straight back afterwards to looking for the last few shrines and the game continued as normal.

Did you have the expansion pack before finishing off Ganon?

Yep. The save games had a star beside them to show that Ganon was toast, but it was business as usual.
I only purchased the expansion pack after defeating Ganon. Could be why it just went to the menu to start a new game.

I really dig my Switch especially during load shedding times. Games are good, currently stuck in Luigis Mansion 3

Figured this out last night after finishing Ganon again.

After finishing off Ganon and the end credits have rolled, the game takes you back to the last save before Ganon was defeated allowing you to explore the rest of the game. Ganon will be alive again and you can fight him again but the game remembers this and marks it with a star that you have completed the task. Ganon can never be permanently defeated in the game as the blood moon would come to an end and guardians would no longer be in his control.

I only played in normal mode and yet to try master mode.

I’m 3 shrines short but they are quest shrines with no puzzles involved, so I’m not so fussed about them. I’m heading for a nice long vacation next week and plan on starting master mode instead of running around looking for them.

Finished all the shrine quests, two EX treasure chests to find, all the main quests are done and still need to compete the trial of the sword. Only attempted it twice and got to level 8 i think. Also finished about 70 of the side quests including finishing off tarrey Town

Currently hunting korok seeds and treasure chests I missed with the korok mask on and the locator set to find chests.

I think I found about 200 korok seeds and from what I read there's over 900.

I forgot about that, but I also got about level 8 first time I tried Trial of the Sword, died stupidly and then when I tried again I realised how difficult the trial was, thought about it too much and died at the Talus about level 6. I've not touched the game since for about 5 weeks now as I'm away from home. I only have the handheld mode so I'll wait until I'm home next week and get it on the big screen.

Otherwise, 264 korok seeds and I'm realising I'll maybe spend a good few hours finishing this game before I try master mode.

What a game this is though, can't wait for the sequel :p

Bought Diablo 3 on special a while back - haven't played anything else. Amazed that a controller layout actually works well with Diablo 3 (last time ai Played it was at launch with keyboard and mouse).

How many people are going to get confused though come Black Friday when they try to send you the original version and charge you the Revision price? Been looking around in anticipation and it is almost impossible to tell from the online retailers which are which, I think they don't know either. Looked at one over the weekend, for my LO of course, and we had loads of fun. Price seems a little steep for the graphics though, but when you take the portability of it into account it almost makes sense.

by revision do you mean the new switch model with longer battery life ? If so then you can spot the difference by looking at the box. The new switch has a red box i believe.

What an excellent thread; glad I found this. I been thinking of getting a Switch as my 11yr old has been after it for some time now. We have a Xbox1 so been debating if the switch would be worthwhile.

Hoping a good black Friday deal comes up
