Seeing that there are some pretty heavy rumours pointing to an imminent reveal of the upgraded Switch model - Switch Pro/whatever it ends up being called - I'm starting a thread to discuss it, and basically anything Switch related.
The current rumours point to the following details for the new model:
www.bloomberg.com
- Release as early as September/October
- Upgraded screen from 6.2" to 7", using Samsung OLED panels with the same 720p resolution and thinner bezels
- Roughly the same physical dimensions as the original model.
- Faster Nvidia chipset with DLSS upscaling capabilities up to 4k when docked
- Some other hardware improvements like a better kickstand (Surface Pro style)
- Compatibility with original Joycons.
Things we have no word on yet:
- New Joycons with better build quality
- Battery life
- Actual performance
- Game compatibility (and whether original Switch games can be patched to improve performance)
- Stock levels, availability
- Pricing (but it will be more expensive than the normal Switch)
According to rumours, there's a chance Nintendo will drop a Direct as early as tomorrow with the details of the new model. I'll update this thread as soon as something happens. I'm pretty hyped for a new Switch, we still play the OG Switch every day in my house and the only thing dragging it back for me is the lousy performance.
