Switching Android > Apple experiences?

Seems work is going to force me to get a corporate phone after all - meaning iphone. Since my S4 is a bit long in the tooth I figured might replace that too so that personal and corporate phone are the same.

Probably going to get a 6s Plus 64GB. I assume 64 will suffice for most tasks? Corporate one I'm guessing will be a 5 or with luck also 6.

Main concern is that I'll still have a mix of eco systems:
Phones > Apple
Tablet > Android
Laptop > Windows
Email etc > Gmail

Tablet might change (not soon), but laptop will have to stay MS. Email I might change to iCloud or whatever the ifruit email thing is.

Presumably someone here has done a Android > Apple transition...so curious how well the above mix works in practice?

Pretty much Whatever you can do on android you can do on iOS. You can also use gmail on iOS to pull your mail and sync your contacts.

Can't. Needs to be ifruit because thats what IT has set up for their VPNs, encryption, custom apps etc. And I don't want to use the work one as my main phone since everything is logged & monitored.

Yeah my concern is more that everything is duplicated. e.g. I've got Google Play Music on my tablet and will now be adding itunes I suppose. Stuff like that...overlaps & incompatibilities. Not a disaster I suppose but still somewhat wary

Lol no wonder BYOD fails/failed.

Play Music is available for the iPhone.

Google might have the best music app in the world
Google Play Music iOS

Play Music? It’s got the most personalization, with an interface that leaves the rest in the dust, plus a robust array of features and some powerful bonuses. Free for radio and online storage and $10 for on-demand, it is the most complete music service out there and a great choice for everyone.

It's just one more thing that Google is quietly revolutionizing.

They have like 69 ios apps out.

I did the switch last year and it wasn't as painful as I thought it would be.

I kept my gmail email as the iCloud one doesn't come close. You should be able to use all your google services just fine.

It's not a big change. Just switch and see how it goes before going iOS on your personal phone too.

It is not a big deal. There are a few weird things that iOS does that you will get used to.

Weird things? Like?

- RAM management overly aggressive, forcing you to reload apps and websites.
- Springboard it too rigid and boring.
- two sets of settings; Sometimes settings are within the app and sometimes in the "Settings" app.
-Copy and paste is an atrocity.
-Notifications are not on the same level as Android.
-If you are used to fast charging, the battery takes an eternity to charge.
-Small storage for the price.
- Cannot sync Photos in the background. The app has to be open. This is probably the one that drives me crazy the most.
-3rd party keyboards are trash. Don't even bother.
-Do not get me started on Siri.

When last did you use an iPhone? Sounds like you're still using a iPhone 3G

Ram management to aggressive. Lol

I would say 3 months ago. And I am posting this from an iOS device.

none of the issues you experience can be duplicated on my side. But perhaps I just don't understand what you mean.
RAM management overly aggressive, forcing you to reload apps and websites.

What do you mean by aggressive? I do not have to reload apps nor websites. Never.

- Springboard it too rigid and boring.

Boring maybe.

- two sets of settings; Sometimes settings are within the app and sometimes in the "Settings" app.

So android Apps don't have internal settings in the actual app? LMAO.
Seems to me you do not understand how iOS works in the first place.

-Copy and paste is an atrocity.

100x times better on iOS than any other mobile OS, especially if your device is a 6s/6s plus that makes use of 3d touch

-Notifications are not on the same level as Android.

What level? IOS has a notification center which can be pulled down, and they all sit there nicely in an ordered way.

-If you are used to fast charging, the battery takes an eternity to charge.

Granted, charging takes longer. Then again, iPhone usage and stand by time is better than any Android equivalent.

-Small storage for the price.

Apple has always had a premium price. Besides, the OP is not paying for it.

- Cannot sync Photos in the background. The app has to be open. This is probably the one that drives me crazy the most.

Not sure what you mean by this? What app? You either enable images to be stored in the cloud or not, no app has to be open.

-3rd party keyboards are trash. Don't even bother.

I have not tried any 3rd party keyboards, the standard one works as it should for me.

-Do not get me started on Siri.

Works brilliantly on my side. Siri most probably doesn't understand your accent. Switch it to AUS and see if it works better.

Anyhow, I don'y want to derail this thread comparing Android to iOS, but what you listed above is a little far fetched.

No need to be defensive. These are just MY opinions after using Android for a long time .These may not be big deals to you but its OK. Different strokes...

I haven't experienced this. I had more app force closes on Andriod.
- Springboard it too rigid and boring.
I will agree with you here, but after the initial "I can't get my widget to work" I got used to it
- two sets of settings; Sometimes settings are within the app and sometimes in the "Settings" app.
My opinion is that the Settings is better on iOS, but I think that is just a matter of preference.
-Copy and paste is an atrocity.
Copy and paste is fine, I have a problem if I only want a partial copy and paste. Then it gets a bit irritating.
-Notifications are not on the same level as Android.
Agree, but it does what it needs too.
-If you are used to fast charging, the battery takes an eternity to charge.
Maybe, I only charge the phone when I am sleeping so I won't know the difference.
-Small storage for the price.
Agree with you, but I think everyone will move over to cloud based services sooner or later. I have a 16GB iphone and I have no issues with space. I do have the 50GB iCloud service though.
- Cannot sync Photos in the background. The app has to be open. This is probably the one that drives me crazy the most.
I do this all the time from iCloud. Is this over iTunes?
-3rd party keyboards are trash. Don't even bother.
Swiftkey on iOS is not as good as on Andriod, so I will agree on this one.
-Do not get me started on Siri.
Siri works fine most of the time for me, it picks up my commands better than the google voice search did.

I've got the same experience as the two others responding to ngwe23.

The older iOS versions and older phones may have had the issues mentioned above but they definitely don't anymore. Especially on the current range of phones with 2GB RAM running iOS 9

You taking over from PlasmaPot?

Defensive? I laid out my opinion. It's not a big deal for me, cause more than half of what you mention in your list is horseradish.
