Switchtel server settings?

Hi,

Does anyone know what the switch telecom SIP server domain/port is?

I just got my switchtel account activated. I have not yet received their pre-configured hardware devices, and want to set up a SIP soft-phone to play with. I can get my account information from switchtel's client-zone, but they don't tell you want that SIP host/port is, and it is too late to call support today, so I cannot configure my softphone! I want to play

Sure, their config is as simple as it gets. Use everything as default, apart from the following:

Server: vpbx.switchtel.co.za
Username: your given SIP username
Password: your given SIP password

Best softphone that I've found for Android is CSIPSimple. Let me know if you come across anything better.

Thanks for the info. It turns out that I needed to use sip.switchtel.co.za. I assume you subsribe to one of their hosted PABX products, whereas I have a single line SIP account.

CSipSimple actually came top of my list due to it being the highest rated FOSS SIP client on playstore. It indeed worked pretty well. I have now disabled it since I received my Yealink phone which is installed at home, and my Switch subscription only allows one active device. I do plan to play with asterisk later to set up a "home PABX" later so that I can also use my classic rotary phone at home via an ATA, but that is for later
