Sybaritic or Take2?

Hi everyone,

just want to say Thank You for the positive comments!

In regards with prices, we try our best to be as competitive as possible, taking into account the terms and conditions we offer, in particular we guarantee all order deliveries (we insure all shipments - there is no "we gave it to the courier, phone them") and also in case of a faulty product under warranty, we take care of any shipping cost involved related to the return/exchange of the product (this applies to items that need to be returned to us, for large items like TVs, you have to service it at your nearest authorized service, details of which we can provide). Basically, we offer a zero-risk shopping experience.

Kind Regards from NIVO!

I'm planning to buy some stuff - harddrive, sd cards, etc - and it seems to have come down to a choice between sybaritic and take2.

Sybaritic are a bit cheaper, but I'm a bit concerned about their shipping. Their attitude seems to be that as soon as they give it to the couriers, it's yours and anything that breaks is your responsibility, unless you take their insurance.

Similarly, if you get a faulty product, or it becomes faulty further down the line, you have to pay for the shipping backwards and forwards. Now considering my bad luck with electronics lately, and considering the number of times I've had to send a particular pair of headphones back to kalahari.net, I'm not sure if this is a good idea.

On the other hand, I don't know what Take2's policy is. Can anyone recommend one over the other? I'm more interested in stories where things have gone wrong, and hearing how they dealt with it, than in reports of everything going without a hitch.

I've been using Take 2 and Sybaritic for quite some time. I've only used Take 2 for games and DVD's though. The only time I've had a problem with Sybaritic was a month or so ago I bought a Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer soundcard and it was faulty. I had it for about a week and tried everything to fix it (driver reinstalls, old drivers etc), but to no avail. On a Monday, I e-mailed them and by Monday afternoon the courrier came and fetched the sound card. I got a replacement back in a week and it didn't cost me a cent.

I always take insured as it's usually only a few extra Rands for it, but I never had to use it. Nothing ever arrives squashed or anything. All in perfect condition.

i vote sybaritic...always had great service and quick replies from them

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the positive comments about Prophecy - we try our best!

A couple of points:

1. Shipments from us are always insured / covered, regardless of what it says on the waybill (special arrangement with the courier company). If something is damaged / stolen during shipment, we ship you a new one. Having said that, the damage rate of our couriers is much lower than we initially expected.

2. Small items are always shipped in a Prophecy box, larger items may be shipped in their retail box. While it may seem risky, we have seen no increase in theft / loss when comparing retail packaged boxes compared with brown boxes (believe it or not, both are basically zero). Personally, I think this is because it's with a courier the entire time - it's not a situation where the post office is used at any point. When we used to use Speed Services we *did* have a few things stolen at the post office, so if you do go that way make sure stuff is packaged in an obscure way :D

Let me know if you guys have any more questions.

PJ
