Sybaritic & TechStop

I once read that declaring a company insolvent and then launching another company with the same line of business is a strategic move to keep all profits and money from orders (Christmas orders in this case).

If its true in this case, he should be reported for fraud as well as to SARS. There's absolutely no reason to liquidate a company and then creating another selling the exact same thing.

There is if he has spent all the money, and can't refund to people who have outstanding orders that he won't fulfill.

You will probably find that it is his wife's Company, and he "just works there".

OK, I should change the sentence to "There's absolutely no legal reason to liquidate a company..." :)

Has anyone gone to the police yet? I spent a lot of money in December and feel defrauded. It appears as though techstop is just a continuation of what sybaritic was.

Some might have, but go to the police yourself.

I'm buying bits and pieces from lots of smaller guys, and I'm now feeling a bit jittery - what if one of them one day decides to go awol on me after a serious order - like a new high end graphics card, or an Alienware laptop?

You can rest assured they won't give you the runaround like Sybaritic has done to friends of mine in years prior. Rebel Tech seems to be in a tight spot these days, but they will pull through eventually. Raru is also making strides in their pricing and selection of components and systems. Perhaps one day the little guys will Voltron together to combat the bigger shops, but for now things are okay elsewhere.

The new company is trying to offer a partial credit for customers on Sybaritic. The catch is you have to pay and order on TechStop. Now that's not a sensible thing to do.

This is bag... no Syberatic or Prophecy.

No, this is bag:

If I recall correctly, Graeme is a MBB member, I can't remember his Nick, but I recall him promoting Sybaritic when it operated from a house "home" in Randburg (Bordeaux?). It was probably 10 years ago, and I cannot find a link.

Just had a chat with them, really seem legit :wtf:

15:55:41 TechStop: Hello. How may I help you?
15:56:23 Guest: Hi, just wanted to check before placing an order, are you the previous owner of sybaritic?
15:56:43 TechStop: Some of them have come across to us, but we are a seperate company.
15:57:08 Guest: Then why is your domain registered to the previous owner of sybaritic?
15:57:48 TechStop: Yes it was done so by that owner as we purchased the website structure from them.
15:58:39 Guest: you bought www.techstop.co.za from sybaritic?
15:58:57 TechStop: TechStop invested in Sybaritic
15:59:15 Guest: but sybaritic has liquidated?
15:59:21 TechStop: Correct.
15:59:54 Guest: Who is the current owner of TechStop, would like to just confirm this
16:00:29 TechStop: We cannot; the owner is a silent investor.

:D No ... that's a fancy bag - check the yellow string.

Back on topic, although the site is still up it's pretty much non-functional. I was interested in seeing when I last purchased something from them, it was quite a while back and I didn't have any problems with the service other than their courier fees - I see the new shop is offering free delivery to major centres for orders over a certain value.

Interesting... is it a registered entity, partnership or sole proprietor? So… TechStop invested in a liquidated company… p(l)ot holes.

Yeah, everyone sung a of praise for the guy.

My little chat with Graeme :

16:08:39 Guest: Company registration details
16:08:44 Guest: Hi there,

16:09:02 TechStop: We are a partnership company.
16:09:12 Guest: I am interested in possibly purchasing a fairly large order from your company but I would need to check the company registration details before being able to do so.
16:09:26 Guest: is it a newly registered partnership or an existing partnership?
16:09:51 TechStop: We are a new venture.
16:10:57 Guest: Ok, unfortunately since you have no registration with CIPC I cannot do business with you.

Seems the owner is not totally the owner since its a partnership.
