1. You're surely not going to retire in 5 years so should take a longer viewpoint...Hi All
I am looking at starting an RA with Sygnia after hearing the great reviews.
Query 1: I see everyone is recommending the Sygnia Skeleton Balanced 70 Fund but according to the below, Sygnia Skeleton Balanced 40 performed better and is lower risk (8.2% vs 7.7%)

Query 2: When I try to chose the fund, I get the below options and they seem similar. Does anyone know which of the below 3 options refer to this link https://assets.ctfassets.net/26bnfu...nia_Skeleton_Balanced_40__-_FFS_2016_SKEL.pdf

Thanks, makes sense, for anyone else having this problem, it's the one ending in Fund A1. You're surely not going to retire in 5 years so should take a longer viewpoint...

2. UPF is unitised life fund and more expensive just go with the standard Unit Trust.
I have chosen :
Sygnia Money Market Unit Trust Fund Class A
Sygnia SWIX Index Fund
Sygnia DIVI Index Fund Class
Sygnia OSE fund
Ah thanks! I thought It was R5k but you actually need to have sygnia investment account to invest in them (R 50k minimum + R5k for the OSE).The top three options there fit perfectly fine into an RA, so if it's a long term option (don’t need the money before 55), you may as well go into an RA. Then buy OSE fund separately outside the RA (I think the minimum investment is R5k).
There’s only two reasons to avoid an RA: you want the money before 55, or you want international exposure.
The other thing is whether you really want DIVI and SWIX as opposed to ETFs that track international markets. Your job and possessions are all in South Africa and exposed to South Africa risk, so your investments might as well be exposed to other country risk.
Oh, didn’t realise that. My bad.Ah thanks! I thought It was R5k but you actually need to have sygnia investment account to invest in them (R 50k minimum + R5k for the OSE).
It only matters for your RA. But the point is that if your investment is Reg 28 compliant, and you can afford to leave it until retirement, then you're missing out on big tax savings.Another random question, In my direct investment account it says that it is regulation 28 compliant. But like I thought this was only a RA thing?
eh? R50k minimum ? For which sygnia account? link ?Ah thanks! I thought It was R5k but you actually need to have sygnia investment account to invest in them (R 50k minimum + R5k for the OSE).

oh ok.. This is Sygnia Investment Policy. For most of their non-policy products (if I could call it that), it is R5K lumpsum and/or R500 per month
50k Lump sum I mean
Anyone have experience moving your RA from momentum to Sygnia![]()
