After I had to learn the hard way for a third time I definately decided that Symbian is the way to go. Windows Mobile just dont come close to Symbian at all.

It's stable, fast, easy to use, etc.......

What is your opinion about this?

Just not any Nokia version of symbian.

Still going strong with the Omnia and WM6 on this side.

never used windows mobile, but so far symbian is just great

Symbian all the way ... especially S60V5. Needs some more work admittedly but but really stable (doesn't need to be rebooted as often ;) )

WinMO just feels more natural.. feels like windows... copy paste even "right click" by holding down finger or stylis. Copy, paste, select text in the web browser unlike symbian which can't.

But i prefer Symbian, stable fast(depends on hardware) but fast when the hardware is good, and clean cut reminds me of google products.. clean cut the way everything should be in life

They have strengths and weaknesses, it's difficult to say one is better than the other. WM is more flexible, more configurable to the end user in my experience. Pretty much every aspect of the OS is available to you if you care to delve into it. But as a phone OS it's not as smooth as Symbian. Really WM was designed to be used with a stylus and it tends to slow down when things like capacitive GUIs are overlaid on it. The start menu interface is fiddly. But it also has a much greater variety of programs available to it and greater cross-device compatibility, unless you have a fetish for Nokias. I prefer using Symbian on a non-smartphone and I prefer WM in a smartphone.

I used both - WM5/6.1
Symbian wins hands down.
More efficient resource wise. Win apps are buggy/slow etc
on Symbian *it just works*

i see the word symbian on some websites but what does it mean?

sorry for asking.

Only had my N82 since October and so far its good. There are alot of apps for it and i have only had it freeze up on me once (which was my fault).
Hopefully will be getting a Sony Ericsson X1 this weekend so will report back with my opinions on that. *fingers crossed*

Up to six months ago i was still using a SE P910i with Symbian uiq, what a wonderfull os. Simple, stable (not that fast) but was always a pleasure. Then i started using my TyTN2(which has been lying in the cupboard for 8 months), and man what a disappointment. It does feel familiar because of the windows link, but i think that is where the problem comes in, it feels familiar like a computer, not like phone.

The WM phone can definitely do more than my old phone, but so can my desktop pc.

In the end it all depends on what one needs, a computer with phone capabilities, or a phone with computer capabilities.

If you want a phone then Symbian is better.

i prefer wm ...symbian is more userfriendly but wm makes more sense to me for some reason ...

My opinion....

If you want to tinker with an operating system and don't mind that the phone functionality is not complete 'out of the box' and you don't mind a few crashes here and there, then WinMo is your platform.

If you still want to tinker, but think Microsoft is the dogs 'nads, then Android would be your OS of choice.

If, on the other had, you want your phone to work as advertised 'out of the box' then Symbian is the way to go, especially now that the 5th edition is available.

The comments above don't apply to Apple and Blackberry fanboys, as no matter their reasons, they'll always choose the handset over the OS. :D

Any Symbian will beat WM5 hands down as far as speed is concerned. Feature wise... WM5. Games... Symbian...

(And I have extensively used both for over two years...)
