Not again!
What's wrong with Symonds?

Australia have sent Andrew Symonds home from the World Twenty20 tournament in England for disciplinary reasons.

Cricket Australia said the controversial all-rounder had been dismissed after breaking team rules relating to alcohol and other issues.

"In isolation the breaches are not serious, but in the scheme of history, they are enough to be the final straw," said CA chief James Sutherland.

The tournament hasn't started, they can replace him if they want...

When the Proteas were asked in a tongue and cheek interview a few years ago who in world cricket they disliked the most, most of the players said Andrew Symonds. So I doubt he'll get much sympathy from his fellow cricketers.

p.s. lol'd at the tags to this thread.

The squads had to be named already.

Yes squads had to be named and submitted but it's only once the tournament kicks off that you can't replace players unless they're injured. Same thing applies in the Rugby and Football world cups.

Looks like the cricketers drink more than rugbyplayers?:D

Kinda makes sense since it's the last sport that still has proper tours. I actually feel for those guys, months and months away from home...then I see their wives and I hate them again. :D

If that was the case then why did australia have to ask the ICC permission to replace him?? I think it isn't really allowed but the ICC made an exception. Total BS imho, I really hope the other teams make a big uproar about this.

Well the aussies are a bunch of idiots, i reckon if a person like gibbs wants to smoke dope and drink then fine as long as he performs, if he is not performing drop him because he is not playing well, don't drop someone because they smoke dope or drink too much. We must remember they also want to have fun in life.

The aussies will suffer without him so they are totally stupid IMO

What did he do exactly?

Had a long lunch;)

Actually went out for drinks the night before (new rule , only supposed to drink at hotel and he doesn't like socialising with the new set), then next morning joined the team to watch the Rugby league State of Origin match in Australia, kicked on for lunch , had more beer etc.
Didn't have a problem in IPL series and he says he wasn't happy with Aussie team culture now.

btw...looks like he may be coming to play in SA for Lions as a 20-20 freelancer.

As far as I understand it, he was contractually required to not drink in public. So it's not a case that he got drunk, but any drinking in public put him in breach of his contract.

Still crazy to axe him from the squad when your squad is little under powered.

Stupid aussies.
