Hi,

I'm new to ADSL. We have a marconi usb adsl modem. When clicking on the little green icon next to the time, the screen that pops up, says the download speed is 192 or less, sometimes. Does this speed indicate the connection with the exchange? Does this speed go up and down as you download? I'm not talking about the green bar that increases as you download.

We have (...are paying) for a 384 line.

Should I log a call?

Got my ADSL installed a few days ago.

My line is also syncing at 192kb/s downstream and 128kb/s upstream. I'm going to call Telkom to clean their mess up.

Good luck dude. Would love to hear what Sipho was able to tell you. He informed me that I should restart the computer, reinstall the usb modem, stop all my downloads... then in his words "the speed for the download link should be 31kpbs" ?!?!?

SHOCKING! What a loser.

Just remember if you log a call, and a techie comes to your house, youll be charged R114 if he's able to connect. So unless you want to throw R114 in Papi's wallet, rather try and sort this out on the phone...

Advice.. Avoid Sipho at the call centre.

Sheer genius. :D Remember back in the day when I was still on dialup Telkom somehow split my line because there weren't enough available and then I couldn't dial up anymore, was getting a new computer at the time so the genius techie then told me the faster computer should be able to "push through" the line problems. Great :D

ya everything with telkom is about your ass pc

which happens to be a conroe 2 duo 2 gig memory with raid hahaha

always the computers fault

Problem solved. A very friendly lady phoned from Telkom, she changed the ports, which was a software switch to another circuit/port, and viola 384K.

Excellentium!
