Synology DiskStation DS925+ reviews — "This NAS has earned its place in my lab"

Synology recently partnered with MyBroadband to give a few lucky members of the MyBroadband Forum community several Synology DiskStation DS925+ units for review.

MyBroadband provided these DiskStations to forum members, and equipped them with 4x 4TB Synology hard drives each, giving the reviewers the chance to test the devices and share their first-hand opinions.
 
I liked it soo much, I bought a few for business, with much larger drives of course.

As I am typing this, I am setting up and playing around with "Active Backup for Business".

Quality and convenience is for moffies.
Real men™ collect 2nd hand drives and use a R600 USB dock to ZFS the ChatGPT-linux-command-line-copy-paste snot out of a mirror array and wake up each morning hoping today is not the day.

Even my chest hair is considering growing some redundancy on my back.

My only experience with devices like these is QNAP. They sell well.

Yes!
I almost thought it gave up the ghost the other day, but a "fresh" 12V power supply from one of those 20+ year old dooses in the back of the closet fixed it right up.
I even got it a friend for some future expansion.

I sure as hell am not going to pay over R12K for a NAS with a CPU from nineteen-voetsek.

I would also like to introduce the D-Link Breadbox, known as ShareCentre.

Comes fully equipped with 4 external drives stripped from "broken" externals.

Even has full SMB 1.0 support for all your Ransomware requirements. (Does not come with SMB 2.0 nor 3.0)

Cursed be the day when these companies caught on and started replacing SATA connectors with proprietary ones so you couldn't pull the drives out of those super cheap external HDD specials.

Bigger, more badass men compile their own Linux OS and run that on a cheap SoC on a board they designed themselves

I still have some Vantec-branded units in storage. I also had a cool system back in the day where I used those with Clonezilla.

A company I work with occasionally is big on Qnap; at times when I am involved those units will cross my desk.
