Work in a dynamic company on a project team designing and developing business applications for major South African and European customersThe Role: Work with a strong and talented engineering team to service major South African and European companies. Responsibilities will include:· Requirements definition, review and system design using OO A&D and UML;· Apply Object Oriented Analysis and Design techniques to support UML.· Use modeling tools to support UML deliverables.· Design the application user interfaces, classes, and components.· Work with other systems analysts and systems architects to ensure the application classes and components integrate with the work of other systems analysts, fulfill the requirements, and meet quality and performance goals.· Inform the systems architect and project manager of any issues that may affect other areas of the project.· Participate in quality management reviews, ensuring the application design and related work products satisfy the requirements.· Participate in transitioning the designs to the developers and systems engineers and ensure a clear and complete understanding of the designs.· Complete all appropriate documentation required by the system engineers, testers and deployment team that will maintain the application.You have:· At least 2 years experience using OO principles and UML modeling tools to define and analyze business requirements· A Computer Science or equivalent university degree;· Strong oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills, and excellent attention to detail;· Self-starter who works well independently and in teams, and who can work under continual deadlines;· Flexibility and confidence to work in a small company's development environment;· Experience with formal development and testing methodologies;· Excellent people skills;· Prepared to travel.· Financial industry experience will be preferable, especially Insurance industry;· Knowledge of relational database concepts. · Ability to transform customer requirements into a workable design at the functional and/or technical levels. · Ability to translate functional requirements into technical terms relevant to the required system to coordinate and assist with the detailed technical design tasks. · Facilitation experience for conducting user design and review sessions and running stakeholder agreement meetings. · Familiar with Joint Application Design (JAD) session, and similar approaches and principles. · Familiar with business process design concepts and principles.
