Table View Mesh

well the setup i had working with the x-micro, i had the ap running with a client connecting to it and was still able to use it to connect with my laptop at home. i know thw x-micro has a built in ant as well as the external ant. which allows you to connect. not sure what you are asking, both of you have x-micro, or you have the x-micro and the next door person has a client card? the x-micro does not have a client mode.

hmmm , maybe I am missing something? explain the use of the client card?

I was envisioning a cantenna setup to my neighbours cantenna down the road where he also has an x-micro. So the x-micro would be routing between our 2 networks.

So the question was wether the 2 of us could still use our individual routers as AP's at home with our notebooks.

Sorry I'm a total WiFi pleb ...

it should work, as long as use are using the same ssid's on both of the AP's and different ip's. the x-micro have a built-in infras. mode. Had you got these x-micro ap's or are you still looking?

still looking around. but they are favoured at this stage.

well they just seemed cheap. i got a price for 740 for a 108. I also got an SMC quouted at 850 for a 54.

What can you suggest , how much are the lynksys ones?

Also , why do I need routers vs. plain AP's? whats the dis/advantages?

Poor mans trials underway.

Hi all,

I have been testing my poormans and I have been having a fair level of success.
Obviously LOS remains the primary problem , but I pick up some strange signals from time to time.

Caught an AP called eyemax , quite strong so it must be close. Anyone?

Mufasa , I jumped on the roof but could only see the very tallest buildings in your complex. Yesterday (Sunday), I had to brief connects to your AP , vendor reported as (fake)? But I'm afraid I am obscured by buildings. Could try to go higher. Still thats a confirmed non-Los detect at 1.6 K's with the as of yet non-parabolic poorrmans.

Dudes also picked up PLATSPAR , now if that is plattekloof , yikes! and UCTNN in the same direction as mufasa , surely not a UCT AP?!!

Cheers
Conrad

i also pick a "eyemax" ap around in Tview. manx i will arrange to come around and test with my 14dbi patch on the weekend will give you a call toward the end of the week.

here is the carziest thing. i stay in Welgelegen(near Plattakloof Hill) and i just picked up the "eyemax" access point with really good signal. i can see it is secured. whoever is running that AP has got some serious range. sounds rather wiered to me. even if it was a "cached" connection i haven't been into TV for ages....I also get a ms-11 AP sometimes. the signal is very poor though.

Wierd. It might then be on one of the high sites and seriously amped.

Tygerkil ??

i have just started picking up a Tygerkil from my AP, any one here?
