Tablet Bubble Burst?

Has anyone figured out what to do with a tablet yet?

Personally, it loos like a Tablet can do what my HTC Desire does in a bigger screen, less the cellphone capability. I will still need to carry around a laptop, HTC Desire Cellphone and a Tablet PC. Add my desktop machine at home, including my Home Theater PC. But Tablets are cool looking devices though and add value to many.

I have a Desire HD and I love lying in bed and surfing on it but I agree, it is a little small at times (lol at DHD screen being small ;) )

The reasons I would get a tablet...work emails, surfing, a little gaming, series and movies. I would also like to get a stylus and one or 2 apps whereby I can make notes in meetings to documents and email them to my laptop. Basically integrate it into my work life. As I become more senior I tend to spend more time in meetings and less behind my laptop

Overall, I own a PC and Desire HD. The laptop belongs to work and has endpoint encryption on it. Not much fun so for me a tablet is the perfect device between my PC and Desire.

Also, looks like work is sending me into Africa for a few weeks within the next month. The tablet is a great device to keep me company in my hotel room when I'm chilling in Tanzania since I can't use my laptop and my desire is too small.

I want one!!!!!

I used my Aspire ONE netbook to death on such trips, with the movies loaded onto the HD and playing the odd flash games. It also had a 3G sim slot and was great for Skype use all over the world.

I gave it to my maid now as she use it to keep in touch with her children and am in the process of upgrading to a Asus Eee Transformer tablet. I think the added bonus of HDMI output will be great for my future trips.

I know exactly how you feel ie DHD... its crazy how the huge screen can seem as a tad 2 small :)

I'm totally hooked. My iPad has replaced by iPhone (gone to wife) and my laptop in many ways. Can't wait to completely break the link between iPad and PC, but as it is my iPad very rarely comes near a PC. Wish MS would bring out Office for iPad. That will be a major nail in the PC coffin.

They are in the form of Windows 8. I dont think they will create an office for other devices, but you can always use the online one?

I get the feeling that will not be in their best interest.

I'm doing the same.

When I installed Microsoft Office 2010 Pro, it added the whole Office Online suite to my Hotmail account + Skydrive as well.

More than good enough do get work done on the move and without having the full Office suite with you.

Got half a dozen tablets here in the office we use for development, various form factors and OS'. I don't bother using them, the thrill wore off in a day. My Lenovo X300 and iPhone 4 does everything I need.

So before anyone goes out to buy one, I suggest you borrow one for a few days (not from me, sorry) and see how long the novelty lasts.

I predict the tablet market has flat lined already.

I think the iPad has done to the tablet market what the iPod did to the digital music player market, create something which is not necessarily original but does the job better than all the others, well done Apple.

Anyone following my arguments with the Apple fanboys some time ago around the release of the original iPad, I will concede it's a great little device. Just wish they made more of them, this stock shortage business is shocking.

I bought a Galaxy tab a couple of weeks ago... when exactly should I get bored of it?

Saying that, no ways I could share my tab. Its a very personal device.

I use my iPad for games, photos, web, social media, meetings, calendar, email, notes, weather... To me it's the perfect extension to my iPhone.... Can't believe I waiters long to get one

As you say, it's personal. I'm saying it's not for everyone.
