okay guys, i hope somebody can help with a small problem

i have an Archos 10 inch tablet. Downloaded the ICS Firmware from the official website, and installed it.

once it was installed, i had to reboot. However the tablet went into the recovery screen, and asked me hit okay, and disconnect the usb cable. However, after hitting okay, i got an error message Failed(1) Clicked on reboot, but it just keeps on looping back to the recovery screen.

has anybody experienced something like this, because i then subsequently went and clicked on reset android and reset android and reset device. Im at a point that after resetting andrid and device, that i might have completely wiped the tablets OS, meaning that the system cant boot into anything, as there is no OS to boot into.

now, here is where im stuck. when i plug in the USB cable, i can hear the sound indicating that the USB has been plugged in, but the device doesnt appear as a drive. Now, as i cant see the drive, how would i go about reinstalling the OS? or is there a way around this, as the device is deffinately not bricked, but just stuck at the recovery screen, with im guessing nothing to boot into.

ive clicked on My Computer, properties, Disk Drives, and i can see the tablet appearing there.

any suggestions?

does it do anything at all when you press and hold the power button?

Your best bet would be to do some googling and pray someone else had the same issue

Have you tried to enter the recovery mode... just read about it in the manual (when all else fails hugh..lol)

you have to power the device on and hold the (+) volume button to get into it...

it has several options to manage the device's file structure, an option to attempt to fix the system structure, and an options to hook to a pc to reload the firmware again...

you may wana see if you can get to this screen first.. might be able to fix it from there before you return it....

System recovery

If your ARCHOS does not respond correctly or does not start properly, you can try to remedy this situation with a system recovery. Be very careful with this as there are options to erase all the data on your device.

To enter into the Recovery screen

- Turn off the device and wait 10 seconds.
- Press and hold the volume + button while powering on the device.
- Keep the volume + pressed until the Recovery mode starts (white screen).
- To move from one option to another, use the volume buttons. To select an option, press the ON/OFF button.

Recovery mode options

No: Cancels the system recovery.
Update firmware: Allows you to connect your device to a computer in order to copy the latest .AOS file (operating system) to your device and then install it.
Repair System: Attempts to repair the file structure on the internal memory. This does not erase any data.
No: Return to main recovery screen.
Force Touchscreen Calibration: Select this and then select no to leave the recovery screen. Upon restarting, the ARCHOS will immediately start the touch-screen calibration utility.
Check Disk: Check and repair the system partition if damaged.
Start USB MSC: Allows you to connect your device to a PC to access the internal memory.
Format System: Formats the internal memory. All data (music, photos, videos, etc.), applications and settings are erased. "

Can you still access recovery mode (power on device while holding volume +)?

Ya so I've done this to my phone SGS2 but on purpose to clear out everything (yes the rom included).

My procedure was pretty basic. You just download the full recovery ROM for your device.
So you'll need the Bootloader, PDA, Phone and CSC files that you can pop into Odin and flash onto your device..
I'm not sure what tools are used to flash ROMs onto your device, but i'm sure Odin will work.

Best bet is to get on XDA developers and see what you can come across.
