A recent article: HP Killing All webOS Devices, Another One Bites the Dust
indicated more devices are quilting the Tablet Wars.

Now, It seems that I'm seeing a trend here (I could be mistaken), why are all these guys failing in the market?
I even read some news on the BlackBerry 4G tablet being canceled by a mobile carried overseas a while ago.

Now, I'm neither a owner of any HP tablet device, neither have I every worked on one as to date, but still curious as to why these devices seems to 'die out' all of a sudden.

Exactly, is Apple winning this one? (Well, if you look at some prices locally, yeah, it's a lot cheaper than some tablets, even if its just the WIFI version), but that won't make other companies 'Bail out' will it?

I do own a MacBook and love MacOSX but personally own a BlackBerry Tablet and a Android Tablet and I'm not interested in owning an iPad at the present.

Its all about the software. The rest is just a touchscreen and some beefy batteries.

I really wouldnt wanna lose mine tbh. Its a great device, makes travelling so much better.

I am under the impression that Samsung are also holding their own.

Asus are also doing well !

Yea the Transformer is a really nice device!
I think the playbook will be the next casualty because besides a really nice OS the apps suck.

We'll never know, even hough I own one, at least the Android Player seems to fill some of the 'Missing App' gaps, but that's only if RIM delivers on it. I've got the 'Leaked' version running and its still not very stable, but apps do work nicely. I've been playing Angry Birds that I downloaded from Android's Marked these couple of days on my PlayBook.

Competition is very tight in the tablet segment. OS / Apps play a big role but also so does the hardware on the device like have g USB port , hdmi and sd card slot.

End of the day manufacturers has to not only compete but also has to take it's products a step forward to stay ahead.
Very few is doing that and Apple / Samsung and Asus seems to be have the market.

I don't think it is very tight, apple must have most of the market share.

They also look like they have the best product and the price is not that bad, when i see one of those galaxy tabs for 8k i think WTF is going on, does samsung think they have something over the ipad? because choosing between the two seems rather easy.

Apple has most of the market share on this one, they lead by at least a 4 to 1 easy, with at least a years lead.

Personally I own a iPad 1 and a Asus Transformer with dock. I use to love the iPad but it was way to limiting in what I wanted, but I wanted more of a mini computer than a tablet anyway.

Is the market dying? With a couple of millions sold I would say no it only started, and windows arm based tablets didn't even come out yet so I wont jump the gun yet.

If history taught us anything, the OEM's dying out is just the market trying to find its feet, or have you people forgotten how ZX Spectrum and Commodores use to rule the PC world not even talking about Texas Instruments and other old forgotten names. Oh and back in the early 80's Apple was also winning, well before Microsoft made their deal with IBM that is.

If you really want to see how many PC's there was back in the late 70's/late 80's check http://www.mess.org/supported_systems Some of those are game consoles but there is also a huge list of PC's as well.
