Which one of these would get your vote? The Sony Xperia S or the Galaxy Tab 2 (P5100)?

I cannot make up my mind, they both seem decent and both have their ups and downs, so for me it is a toss-up and I have no idea which one outshines the others.

It seems to boil down to the minor difference in the displays and CPU it seems.

What is your thoughts?

The Sony goes for R199-00 PM and the Galaxy Tab 2 for R229-00 PM at MTN, so there is nothing really in the price between the two

I looked at them too, personally I would go for the samsung as it has the functionality to sms and make/receive phone calls which the sony doesnt. You are also more likely to get updates on the samsung vs the sony as sony are notorious for abandoning updates on older models.

I have to wait 24-48 hours while they migrate the MyCall100 to a Internet 500 bundle, so I still have a day or two to decide which one.

I'm leaning towards the Samsung, just because it has better support, but I see the XDA Sony S community is quite active, so there is no shortage of development.

Another point to ponder: Samsung has a 1Ghz dual core CPU while the Sony has a 1.3 Ghz Quad core.

It just doesn't get easier:

Wow, that is a bargain! Sure it is not a misprint?

EDIT:
Just saw it is the 7" tablet, not the 10.1" one.
:(

Don't be an idiot and take a tablet on a 24-month contract...eish people.

You make no sense. The cost of the tablet is subsidized in the contract.
That argument makes about as much sense as saying "Don't be an idiot and take a phone on a 24-month contract"

Saying something like this without explaining why is kinda pointless. Care to elaborate?

Rather save a bit more and buy the tablet of your choice cash as opposed to paying it off over 24-months. Tablets de-valuate as quickly, if not more, than phones

Still it doesnt make sense, are you suggesting its being bought as a temporary thing?
If its 3G enabled there is a pretty good chance that the user would want a sim card and some kind of data allocation.
I worked it out and it would cost less to buy the tablet on contract than to buy the same tablet cash and then buy data bundles or get a data only contract.

Sure neither are the most desirable tablets but they are probably fine for the OP if they are considering them.
