FYI

Had some attenuation issues in the Sunningdale area of Tableview, spoke to one of the techies and he said that a exchange upgrade is being performed, which as I understand it, will have a new exchange closer to Sunningdale.
This should be completed around Feb 2013.

Don't know anything more, but though there would be other people in the area (also 5km from exchange) that would also be happy with the news. xD

Don't get your get hopes to high!

I was told Richmond IMAX KZN was going to be cut over to Metro Ethernet on the 16 October 2012, to correct congestion and enable 10MBPS, I was give a ref number and a sms informing me that the exchange would go offline, blah blah blah....

16 October 2012 came and gone.... Nothing has been done, the call center says it was postponed until next year,
So we must just pay pay pay, and get nothing in return Telkom are useless!

Not to burst Mr negative's bubble up here... but madrynn you are right. I have a line fault last week and yesterday the tech was at my house and he said that they are busy with the upgrades, that's why fault fixing is taking so long in table view at the moment. The MSAM I connect to is about 20 metres from me and that one has been upgraded to fibre already.

Sunningdale is definitely on 10mbps.. we're just waiting for 40mbps now.

Still buzz y cutting over blouberg , Tableview will be middle next year ....

Would be nice to be able to get something higher than 4Mbps, been waiting 3 years already.

I'd love 4Mbps. I was originally given an 8Mbps profile, but due to noise and attenuation, I can only get stable ADSL at just over 2Mbps. Apparently I'm very far from the exchange. Can't wait for the upgrade.

It doesn't really matter what any of the Telclowns aare telling you. Ask 3 techies - get 3 different answers.
I'm on the exchnage and the Fruit and Veg center on Blaauwerg Rd and like over a year ago my speed was on a stable no probs 8 MB. That lasted for around 2 weeks then it all went to ****. Had a bunch of techies coming to my house and every single oe of them had a different story for me. Network probs, congestion, too far away from the exchange (1.78 km is far?), bad copper, blah blah ...
In the end all they could manage to come up with was a stable 5 MB line. WTF???

Anyhoo, am on Afrihost's 4 MB uncapped since a while so I stopped worrying about Telkom and started worrying about Afrihost. :erm:

+1

I'm on the same exchange and when we got 10Mbit enabled I was syncing at 8Mbps, then 6, then back to 4, then down to 2, up to 4 again... Etc etc. Right now all I'd love to have is a stable 4Mbps (or 5, to take advantage of the extra line overheads on a 4Mbps account :D).

I live in Sunningdale and the max I have been able to get is 2 megs for the last 3 years, the last 4 months I'm lucky if I get 2 megs at 5 in the morning, I typically get like 1 meg max with lots of line drops. Techies been out here 4 times and problem still not solved. 3G is also terrible in this area, so my only option is to join something like CTWUG connect to my friend up the road, upgrade him to 10 megs and use him for internet.

Pretty pathetic.
