Take 2 online shopping

That's illegal in case you wondered.

ITS NOT ILLEGAL - please post the Government Gazette where said law was passed, wait, it was never passed and thus is not illegal. Its perfectly legal in South Africa to do so!

I use to work for Springbok Information Systems and they do this. I had numbnuckles like you telling me each and everyday it was illegal, its not - its just wrong from a customer service point of view. Also if a correctly worded disclaimer is presented during the time of "Offer To Purchase", not even the banks can moan.

You see the banks have an agreement with the retailer that credit card transactions may not be charged more than cash price - but if the retailer mumbles on about an admin & handling fee that is applied to all purchase but is waivered on cash, then the banks can do nothing.

But its still wrong, not illegal.

(I no longer work for these guys, thank goodness)

Yes, i think there's like a 5%+ charge somewhere along the way when doing credit card transactions. That said, in the olden days companies used to offer you a DISCOUNT if you paid cash instead of card. Nowadays they just don't and up their prices as if you are paying by credit card anyway.

The cash discount feel away as the credit agreement still entitled the consumer to pay "cash discounted" price.

Take 2 are great, I've bought games, xbox controller, some smaller hardware stuff, EFT & CC, never had a problem.

Bought a pair of Sennheiser RS160 wireless headphones that take2 import from America, hope they arrive.
They were marked down from R3400+ to R1750 and all reviews where excellent.

I've recently ordered a Dell laptop keyboard from Take2 that they imported from Amazon and it pretty cheap, except that it took like 45 days to arrive and not 23 days like the expected date of arrival was estimated at first.

Good company. Ordered many DVDs and Blurays from the in the past with no hassles. Only slowdown was during Christmas period, but normally they deliver well before expected date.

I have had good experiences with take2. Only one hassle. If you are ordering a rare/non mainstream item, sometimes they show that the supplier has stock, but then receive a mail after ordering saying they don't have stock and your account will be credited. But they fail to mention that the account they are talking about is your take2 account. Not your bank account. Service is good and Colin is especially helpful with the electronics there. :)

I doubt an eft is reversible or can you imagine the fraud? Well i have always thought they are secure. Surely you cannot phone a bank and reverse an eft?

Why don't companies like prophecy take credit cards? I would buy all my stuff from them.

because of the below, plus fees plus card fraud, just not worth it
That way if there are any issues, I can always call the bank and ask for a charge-back

Yea i know about the fraud but so many places accept credit cards, why do most online retailers accept credit cards yet prophecy is about the only one i know that won't?

Not really a big issue there are a dozen or so good online shops that accept them that i know of :D.
