In one of my previous forums someone told me to buy the MSI ATi Radeon HD5750 graphics card from Take2.co.za

Is their service good and would anyone recommend them who lives in Cape Town?

And is it better to pay with a Credit Card or to pay with EFT? :confused:

Or should I just leave them and go to Prophecy.co.za?

I always pay EFT - then you have total control over your info. I have been using them for books and DVDs - no computer products yet - I have not had issues with them.
 
Maybe I am a little to cavalier/blasé, but I am happy to use my credit card. Way more convenient that the schlep of an EFT. Credit card is instant and I don't have to send confirmation or wait for a payment to clear if. I have InContact so I am able to closely monitor it. Also, FNB are watching my usage. I get the odd courtesy call to ensure the usage is in fact by me. I get eBucks for my credit card usage.
 
I live in Cape Town and have purchased many things from Take 2 and go and collect it straight from their warehouse since I live here.

I pay with credit card and have had no problems. They are a good company.
 
Both Prophecy Shop and Take2 are excellent.

I just buy from the one who has the best price (shipping incl). Unfortunately Prophecy Shop doesn't take Credit Cards yet.

I use shop bots like shopmania, jump and oneshop to check if the components aren't cheaper elsewhere.
 
Just curious, why would you prefer an EFT to a credit card transaction?

Personally, unless there's a cash discount involved, I always go with a CC for something where a largish advance payment is required. That way if there are any issues, I can always call the bank and ask for a charge-back. As far as I know, reversing an EFT is a far harder process.

Never had to do either, so speaking from a position of ignorance though.

I doubt an eft is reversible or can you imagine the fraud? Well i have always thought they are secure. Surely you cannot phone a bank and reverse an eft?

Why don't companies like prophecy take credit cards? I would buy all my stuff from them.
 
EFT's aren't reversible like CC transactions.

I'm not sure why Prophecy Shop doesn't take CC. My guess is that they would have to increase the price for the quotes used for CC transactions, because you pay a percentage per CC transaction AFAIK.
WootWare doesn't do CC transactions either.
 
Used Take2 for years for PC hardware and other stuff. Used my credit card as well. Excellent service.
 
Never had any issues with Take2. Products always competitively priced and delivery prompt. Never had to return anything so don't know how they handle returns...
 
I had to return a motherboard. The website was not 100% clear if it had 1 or 2 PCI Express slots. I opened the box and could see through the plastic that it had 1 slot. I phoned them and they had a courier come by to pick it up within half an hour. They only are fussy if you actually opened the product and broke seals. They will still accept a return when the product is used but will only arrange repayment when the manufacturer has checked it and then reimbursed take2. My motherboard was still sealed and obviously unused.

I've bought hardware, dvd's and books from take2. Their delivery time is often shorter than what they state which is nice. I mostly collect from them as I stay in CT. Never had any problems, and they stock a wide range of stuff.

The reason probably lies in the fact that card transactions, retail company must pay over a fee (usually a %) to the banks. Some companies, like my preferred computer shop, will ask me to pay an additional percentage if I am paying by card.

Yes, i think there's like a 5%+ charge somewhere along the way when doing credit card transactions. That said, in the olden days companies used to offer you a DISCOUNT if you paid cash instead of card. Nowadays they just don't and up their prices as if you are paying by credit card anyway.

Retailers with large quantities of cash unnecessarily become targets for hold-up. So I can understand why some would prefer to go the credit card route.

But online retailers shouldn't be prejudicing transactions involving credit cards. Rather inflate the price, but give the purchaser the alternative.
