The best form of protest would be for one myadsl member to sit outside Telkom Head Office and set himself alight.

Do we have a volunteer?
 
OK well lets not protest at the intersections How about we get up bright and early and block off all the telkom offices, make a human change around there business enterances. So that none of them can get to work. They will be losing money. But dont we have to get permission to hold a protest. Or they might bring the police in and tear gas us. Or we should just do it any way. But what else if only we could shut Telkom down during the protest...

Any1 got an E-mail address of a top Telkom official ? I got this lovely mail bombing program that we can all run and bomb the **** out of his server and pc. Best thing is once the 1st E-mail arrives it links to his IP and starts a ping between all the pc's on the same network as that PC. If it goes on for long enough the Pc's blue screen. (Problem after restart everything is back to normal - program is illegal)
Need programmer that can stop the random pinging stopping after the restart.
If like 20 000 people do this what can they do?

I'm willing! I think the raido studio or Telkom office is a better idea than an intersection though. You want people to be sympathetic to your cause not angry at you because they are gonna be late for work.
 
Ok so far only 27 people are going to do this thing, I'd say they (Telkom ppl) would just walk past the chain because of how short its going to be.:p

This comment has nothing to do with rascism - it's on differences between cultures :

That's the problem with the white folks of today though. They just sit back, with a fatalistic outlook upon life, and accept everything as inevitable. No-one is willing to pick up the ball, and attempt to change the direction of play.

The black folks get together, organise a march / strike / protest, and in most instances the opposition sides cave in to their demands, or at the least they find some neutral ground in between, which both parties agree upon.

Remember David and Goliath ? Who won ? One well placed blow can do much to cripple ( or at least injure ) a giant.

I propose we all support the above ideas.
 
OK, so far a few people have said that these are good ideas, but that doesnt help if we arrive outside a radio station and there are 2 people standing outside looking angry. We need to have people committed to this protest as I believe the november price changes are gonna wreak havoc on south africa. I am willing to have people 'sign-up' for the protest by emailing me at [email protected]. You can make the subject "November Price Protest" or something and in the email just say whether you are coming at 8 am, and what your username on the myadsl forum is. If you dont mind providing it a contact number would be useful.
I suggest that we do it outside the 5fm studio after sending them about 2 emails about why we are protesting, but if anyone else has any ideas as to where we could protest I'm wide open to them.

Please send the emails exactly to [email protected] because if it doesnt have the +protest attached to the end it will not go into the correct folder.

I remember in some or other movie that I saw about 20years ago there was a scene where protesters hired "rent-a-crowd" to add some numbers...

Maybe contact MoneyWeb to post an ADSL 1 Nov issue article. A lot of financial clever people read this site.

Riadio-sonder-mense (RSG) has a weekly Internet/PC program on Tuesday evenings. Maybe it can be usefull for them to discuss.

Maybe contact Mr Hellkom to supply some T-shirts to the protesters. Unfortunately I am in Richards Bay and because of Telkom Bills cant afford an SAA ticket to participate (Koeloela does not service the Bay).

Anyway, my 5c of valuable useful information.

I really hate to bring this up but, I lived in the DR for a few years and was there in January of this year. I think they might just be on par or past SA with internet. People who live in very poor areas are typing away at internet cafes.

This also is the case in Guatemala and Peru where I have also visited this past year. Guatemala was amazing with their internet. And it was soooo cheap. Every campasino kid in the towns were in cafes playing internet games and chatting online. Not like the price of a cafe here.

I have not seen that so much here in Cape Town yet, but it might be there. :confused:

Also, where are people meeting in CT? I will join if I know where and when.

Well it looks like all the Capetonians are willing, but I haven't received any emails from anyone willing to protest in Joburg. Come on guys!
I've been trying to submit the story about Telkom's nov prices to Carte Blanch but I keep getting errors on their website. We should really get the media involved in this, anyone got any contacts?

Pitty there was no burning people running around screaming bluddy murder and blaming Telkom for all of it :)
