Who is running this campaign? Is it one of the cigarette manufactures or the industry as a body? Some of their banners like the one below seem a little irresponsible.

I read a bit about this a couple of months back.

This is the cigarette cartels being a crybaby about competition in their turf. Same is MonoChoice crying every week here about Netflix

Who's their competition?

Signed by an impressive 3000 people ... :crylaugh:

Seriously though, fek all these idiots to hell who campaign for government to also penalize their competition, rather campaign for the various taxes to be scrapped to level the playing field.

Not a fan of cigarette companies but, this isn't about competition they basically asking the government to take the trade in illegal cigarette seriously. The lost revenue for government is quite a lot.

It's not like they care about the government's lost revenue though, they care about their own lost revenue, nothing more.

So yes it is about competition, their competition is breaking the law and they are not. The tax should just be scrapped (together with pretty much every other form of tax) then their complaint is resolved immediately.

The issue here is they are asking the Mobs to go against non-BAT cigarette companies.

There are cheaper versions than the BAT brands which are taxed. The illegal ones they are "referring" to are their own cigarettes or copies coming in from places like Zimbabwe.

The Sharps / Voyager / Royals / RGs and the likes are pretty legal and supplied in retail stores. The only difference is it's cheaper from Paki shops due to the low mark-up.

As an example:
Sharp at Paki = R 125 for 10 packets
Sharp at OK = R 15 - R 17 a packet

This made me light up.

My bangla spaza is ~700m away. Exercise & R10 a packet for JFK.

Sin taxes are unconstitunional, so f**k all who don't smoke or drink.

Teeny weeny, cry away.

And tax NarrowBandFtw more please, not the rest of us.

Government taxed them out of business. Black market fuel not far off.

Small change... imagine if we got back all the money ANC has looted
