So, I purchased a product for R30. 91% discount as advertised. Several days later they just cancel my order. The exact product is available but at R355. I’m sorry but I feel tshould honor the advertised price!

I’ve tried [email protected] but emails bounce. Actually it’s blocked!

Thankfully I took screenshots of everything. So I have proof.

You're not going to get it at R30, it was probably a pricing mistake and no you cannot hold them to it and the CPA doesn't count and and and. Plenty of people have tried and you'll not get it at the mistaken price.

R30 a 91% discount. I’m sorry I don’t accept it was a mistake. This is no different to any other discounted sale item that I buy from takealot.

It took them 8 days to just CANCEL my order!

It doesn't really sound like a mistake if they quoted 91% discount, just reads like it was discounted heavily from the usual ~R350 price.
Takesnot is clearly in the wrong here.

Unfortunately even if they are, the chances of getting the product at that price are very very slim. They'll argue over it being a pricing fault or their supplier or something.
Though to normally get the thing at that price it plays to be nice, I've gotten something that's normally R700 for R0.10 due to being nice.

Yes but they just cancelled my order (8 days later, surely they allowed a reasonable time frame to review an order eg 3 days or something). They have not taken any steps to communicate an error on their side or just done a basic courtesy call.

As a consumer and interacting with their discounts frequently this was just a "great deal" in my mind! I purchased 1, not like a tried to arbitrage and purchase 100 at that price... I acted in good faith. I would expect takealot to do the same...

@dtalbot777 What was the outcome?

They ignored me and credited the R30 even after getting through to their customer service agent that agreed they should honor the special price.
What a joke. The price you see is the price you pay. E&OE is always a convenient escape.

Takealot can be real A**holes sometimes, I one bought a Garmin Navigator for R1900 they sent me a garmin watch worth R4500.

To get them to correct their mistake was a mission almost to the point, that I was lying, after having to submit photos to them regards the incorrect product it took them 1 week to uplift the watch, still no navigator. 10 days later I had to call in and ask why have I not received the navigator or a credit, “we are not sure what to do in this case”
They eventually refunded my money to my Credit card. From order to refund was an entire month

I have had the exact same issue with them for a order I placed on black Friday.

I ordered and paid for a gaming chair discounted on Black Friday. The order was delayed for two weeks after which they cancelled my order stating that they ran out of stock. Within the next week after cancelling they have the EXACT same chair back in stock at the normal higher price! I had contacted Takealot and they have refused to reinstate and honour the discounted order.

When they cancelled the order they sent me the following message:

"We're sorry to let you know that we no longer have stock of the below item(s) in your order. We've tried to, but were unable to source the item(s) from our suppliers. We've therefore unfortunately had to cancel the item(s) from your order. "

The above statement and highlighted is clearly not being honoured in my opinion as the exact chair was available in stock in JHB & CTP 7 days after my order was cancelled.

This was the BS response from takealot when I requested if the order could be honoured:

" Kindly be advised that due to a certain limit of stock getting allocated to promotions, we are not able to honor each order for items placed for it as it is subjected to a first come first serve basis.

The particular order was canceled as it was out of stock and per supplier on the day your order was processed. Numerous orders get logged for a single item and whoever is first in queue will receive the item as the price advertised.

The chair has since reverted to its original price and is sold accordingly."

I hoped that they could understand how this from a customer point of view leaves me feeling short changed as the order was delayed for two weeks, cancelled, and then back in stock at a higher price a week later.

I am still waiting for feedback from them and still fighting this...

They're treading a dangerous path, customer service is what built them and it can just as easily break them if they don't address this.
