Hi

I just made an EFT to takealot via FNB but the payfast system isn't reflectingit. My bank account shows I paid the amount but payfast says it didn't work, the refference number is correct. Please help because I'm freaking out over here

Just pop them a mail. Will probably only reflect tomorrow morning.

Okay thanks, will check tomorrow.

Oh and is there anything special I should know when building a PC?

Lol at Payfast, I think we should first ask the question, how much do you know about computers?

LOL About an hours worth of googling and watching youtube videos. Maybe I'll go to the PC repair shop nearby and build it there in case I get stuck.

Some suppliers will build the pc for you based on parts your order for a fee

You need to make sure the CPU, Motherboard and RAM are compatible with each other, have a decent graphics card (make sure the motherboard can actually accommodate one) a PSU that has enough juice and connections to power everything, and a case that suites the form factor of the mobo

Then you get your HDD, Optical drives (not too necessary anymore) and install an OS, depending on the legality of your route this can have a major impact on price (Windows vs Ubuntu as an example)

Gigabyte Greenmax 550W Power Supply

Crucial 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Desktop DS Memory

MSI Intel H81M-P33 H81 Chipset Motherboard - Socket 1150

Raidmax Vortex 402 Chassis - Black

Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA HDD

MSI AMD Radeon R7 260X 2GB GDDR5 OC Graphics Card

Intel Core i3 4160 3.60Ghz Socket 1150 Processor

It's exactly a great build but it oughtta do for the next two years.

Haha no I'm going legit for the entire thing, I'm going to buy windows 8 a day or two before all the parts arrive. I was going to go with Rebeltech but my dad thought the website was a scam and what-not so it took time but I finally convinced him that Takealot is REAL company.

BTW I saw this thing on linus tech tips I believe he called it an anti-static wrist bracelet or something like that. Will I need that and is it included with say maybe the graphics card?

Looking good except for the i3, go up to an i5 at least

And add an SSD, it'll be a massive performance boost

Haha about 7k. I know I freaked out like it was 20k or something but to a kid 7k is more then we'll ever see.

Oh Dear, my son, my son, 7k and you still have to do the build.
Well we have all been there, at some time or other time in our lives.
Good luck with the build, you are going to learn a lot very quickly.
Dont sweat the EFT, it is pretty foolproof.

Why? Am I overpaying? Well it doesn't matter since I'm pretty new to PC gaming.

I was looking more for price. I'll maybe get an SSD by the end of the year, I first want to change the case then I'll start upgrading it over the years.

One more question, what OS do I get? 64-Bit or 32-Bit?

Rebeltech is legit spent probably R10k so far with them.

Build isn't too bad, except for the I3, if you can do so, at least get an I5 as there are games out now which do require quad core CPU's (I get the distinct feeling the purpose of the build is for gaming) - not sure if the Hyperthreading is seen as 4 cores by these games.

You can pick the SSD up at a later stage if you so wish - it does help performance wise, but rather get the better CPU immediately so as to not waste cash on having to completely replace a part soon after. With the I5 the build can last a good 3-4 years (not playing games at best quality settings though IMO).

Rebeltech is legit, would've also rather taken a look at Wootware (not up to date on either's prices atm though), but giving your dad that little piece of mind might be worth paying the extra bit.

Lastly, what Monitor do you have / are you getting as this also plays a role?
