Takealot EFT Payfast issue

Why? Am I overpaying? Well it doesn't matter since I'm pretty new to PC gaming.

I was looking more for price. I'll maybe get an SSD by the end of the year, I first want to change the case then I'll start upgrading it over the years.

One more question, what OS do I get? 64-Bit or 32-Bit?

64! 32 can't address more than a total of 4 gigs (or somewhere around there) of RAM

Good luck with the build! The best way to learn is by doing something! And as always myBB is always here to help should you hit a particularly bad snag

Build isn't too bad, except for the I3, if you can do so, at least get an I5 as there are games out now which do require quad core CPU's (I get the distinct feeling the purpose of the build is for gaming) - not sure if the Hyperthreading is seen as 4 cores by these games.

You can pick the SSD up at a later stage if you so wish - it does help performance wise, but rather get the better CPU immediately so as to not waste cash on having to completely replace a part soon after. With the I5 the build can last a good 3-4 years (not playing games at best quality settings though IMO).

Rebeltech is legit, would've also rather taken a look at Wootware (not up to date on either's prices atm though), but giving your dad that little piece of mind might be worth paying the extra bit.

Lastly, what Monitor do you have / are you getting as this also plays a role?

Don't underestimate the i3, especially the 4th gen.
That i3 if he bought the one I think he did would of been R1220 vs R2300 for an i5.

That i3 is basically ending up just under the AMD FX 8 core in terms of performance with games.

You'll also need a R9 280x and upwards to really start taking advantage of the i5.

PS the only difference between the i3 he bought, and the one that's listed on the benchmark is the one has a HD4400 while the other has a HD4600.
Which doesn't matter when using own Graphics card.

Uhhhm I know its sorta early but I just logged on to my email and payfast sent me an email saying the amount I paied for the takealot was actually added to my payfast account. The thing is I don't have a payfast account and the order on takealot is still awaiting payment. Should I just let it sort itself or should I phone takealot later on?

Phone pay fast

LOL don't stress if you phone payfast, they will ask you to send proof of payment to them. Just log into your internet banking and send a payment confirmation to them to the [email protected] email address.

I had issues doing my payment on Tuesday when Takealot had website issues. I ended up doing the Instant EFT option and my payment also gave issue on standardbank site. After sending the payment confirmation from standard bank, maybe 1h later my payment reflected on takealot.

I think this is an issue from our banks during month end. Now just waiting for my items to be shipped.

How Payfast works is that you get a unique reference number. When you use Payfast, what happens is that funds get transferred to Payfast and kept in a wallet that is linked to that reference number. Then that money gets paid over to the online retailer. So, you can try to redo payment on Takealot (I think there should be a 'change payment method' option in your order to do this) and then select Payfast again. Hopefully this will put you through to the Payfast portal again and it may pick up the same reference for that particular order and that the money is already there and then complete payment.

I'm not sure exactly how it works when you do not have a Payfast account, though, so you may be better off contacting Payfast directly.

Sorry to start up a solved thread but what does it mean when the status of something from takealot says 'IBT in transit'? Only my CPU has this as the other parts say arrived at takealot, except for the RAM which is still being processed.

As far as I can understand IBT in transit means "Inter Branch Transfer" So they probably shipping stuff from Cape Town to Joburg or other way around. Then once all your spares are at the same warehouse they will probably ship everything from one location.

I just bought 5 Tablets from Takealot and also found this EFT thing of theirs kinda weird. Did seem to work without a hitch though. Now let's just hope they don't cock up my orders like they did with my BF3 order years back...

Edit: I see they use an intermediary service called PayFast.

I'm currently having this issue. Used the correct reference and it says it can't find the payment.

Le sigh. So much for easy payment.
