I gave money to our 20 yo son to buy a laptop, which he then purchased from Takealot.

When the package came, we opened it together, to find they had sent some Apple keyboard product. My first thought was someone between the Warehouse and the courier must have stolen the laptop, but I told my son to log a return.

Not sure what happened then, but basically a Takealot employee logged it on his behalf, then things went awry: my son was told that the product returned was not what was delivered, so they just closed the return!

I then replied on behalf of my son and included photos we took of the contents of the package as we received it.

(In hindsight, I should have maybe just ordered for my son, but I thought this is a good learning experience for him, and you don't expect this to happen!).

So now we are stuck waiting for Takealot. They phoned him again and, as I understand it, they cannot just change the return, or some rubbish, so for some stupid reason, they wanted to send him the faulty product again and then let him log another return!?!?

What the heck. Is there some Takealot representative on this forum that can help? Because you cannot phone them or anything.

Takealot is proving to be quite the disaster.

You can call them though, I called them yesterday. I called all the numbers then eventually got hold of someone who managed to fix my order.

My delivery driver said on the app the order has been delivered but actually the order went home with him. So I would have been in a worse situation than you. I wouldn't have gotten my order at all.

Maybe Takealot are using new drivers because they are so busy.

I think the best solution is to go and collect your order from the warehouse yourself so you don't have this problem.

I received food inside Apple iPad box that was resealed. I Had to fight to prove that it was not me that did it. You can also log a credit card dispute with your bank if dont come right with takealot.

Escalation email: [email protected] (they have power to fix the problem)

Ceo email: [email protected] ( never replied to me yet)
Oh my f&*k that's crazy

I think you are right. So you learn, I guess!
Can you share the number you phoned? I cannot find any phone numbers on their website.

That is a crazy story! Thanks for the email. Definitely going to try and mail them as well.

Seems like we need to take video every time we order from takeallot now like some scam site.
It's sad, but you are probably right. Video them from the time you get the package in your hand from the courier to opening it...
But even then, you actually need to get hold of someone who knows what's potting and who can help you.

I just googles Takealot and called all the numbers it gave they either transfer your call or will be able to help you themselves

Had an issue the other day - they sent me the completely wrong thing. It's best to call them when this happens. I also never buy tech or expensive items from TL, but especially tech where warranty issues between their terms and the products terms often differ.

Never had this happen to me, and I've ordered easily over 100 times from them.

Not saying that it didn't happen to those above, just that it's sad that TAL starts to slip now, esp when Amazon is here and ready to eat their breakfast, lunch and supper.

As somsone who works for an online company they should have cameras over their pickers and they should be able to see what was packed into the box.

We have camera's setup above every picking station since a lot of people will order a expensive item then throw something random in and claim we sent them a false product, in which we send them the camera footage

Bought a solar panel cleaning brush attachment
Advert states: 3.05m
Actual length is 1.5m (4 pieces of 380mm each)
Logged a return
Return declined - reason: Pieces missing, there should be 8 they said
Pointed out photo on ad showing 4 pieces joined together
But they would not budge, even though the box is too small for 8 pieces
Impasse
Been recommended I visit their office in Milnerton

But how does that help if the item is tampered with before it is packed to go the customer?

I received a CD box....without the CD in it.

Was a big fight with them, and had to really throw my toys of the cot

Was a whole R99 - but I fought over the principle of the thing.

Great, thanks! Now why would this information not be on their website?
