Ok!
My first purchase with Takealot.com is Battlefield 3 Limited Edition!
I get all excited because the game is out and now I just have to wait for them to get it.

I get a e-mail saying the game has arrived;

Here is the e-mail:

TAKEALOT - Product(s) Ready for Collection (Order xxxxxx)

Hi Nicholas!

Good news! Your order in part or whole is ready for collection.

Order number: xxxxxxx
Order date: 2011-10-22 09:04:05
Order details: Click here to view

I GET VERY EXCITED!
Earlier than expected but has happened before (Happened with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) so It's not like I'm exceptionally surprised.

I go there and the lady tells me.

"Sorry, you can't have the game because we are not allowed to release it till Friday"

I'm like... But I got the e-mail!

"Sorry sir, it's head offices fault, not mine, just come back Friday"

Just just JUST come back Friday?

Really? Not your fault?

She then goes to tell me that ALOT of people have come to fetch it and they can't give it which I understand (probably under orders from EA) but then why the hell not send ANOTHER e-mail correcting the error! Instead, they just leave it and instead, suckers all fly there to go fetch it and they can't get it.
She told me that 3 guys came from as far as Stellenbosch and she couldn't give it to them!

WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm lekker the moer in with this... it's just also the attitude, not their fault, blame head office, no effort to try and fix the problem (note when I received the e-mail was 15:00!)

Maybe I'm being slightly petty, because god knows I want this game, it's just how they are handling it that pisses me off!

Shame Dude, that would upset me as well. Why don't you let them deliver it?

Wow, that sucks.

I recall BTgames having the same problem with BFBC2 on launch and then they just let the games go a day before launch (I know because I got mine :p)
I was banking on Friday anyway, it's just k@k style of them to make you drive there and send you back home. They could have handled it better.

That being said:

I'm glad all the stock has arrived as that means they will have them delivered by Friday as expected :)

gdiza, just insist on free delivery now as you drove all the way there for nothing.

Sorry dude

good to know they got the stock - hopefully will start shipping on Thurs

Just got the following e-mail:

Hi

We know that you are anxiously awaiting release date for Battlefield 3 and would have received a ready to collect e-mail from us earlier. We would love to send it out today but will only be able to release it on Friday. You'll get another e-mail confirming this.

So sorry if this caused confusion and enjoy the game!

Kind Regards

I can see you kicking up a moerse fuzz :D

Insist on free delivery Friday morning first thing because this was their fault.

And what is worse, I feel SOOOOOOOOOOOO sorry for the people who are driving distances (Stellenbosch etc) to fetch it.

It is an automated email they send out when the merchandise arrives at their warehouse. I doubt it creates a legal obligation to release the good before the official release date.

Nothing to do with LEGAL obligation.
It's a matter of principal - I didn't get pissed of because I couldn't get the game, it was the ATTITUDE "head offices fault" - I can't do anything and the best one "just come back Friday"

And ±2 hours later, a e-mail arrives telling me something I had to find out the hard way.

They have become a K@K place to buy from. Took a motherboard back, after a month I demanded a refund then I got a new board the same day.

I buy from them quite regularly and I've never had any issues.

In regards to people getting BF3 early, a friend of mine pointed out that he'd seen copies of BF3 on the shelves at BTGames so I was like "OMG!" But before I went and picked up a copy I did some googling. This is what I found:

We are currently waiting to get more official confirmation on this from the PR team on Battlefield 3, but already we’ve received it from a reliable EA source about this Region Lock. Even Eurogamer.cz , a Czech gaming site, reports that Xzone will be selling BF3 copies at midnight on the 25th, but with the game not playable until Friday, October 28th, 2011. The release is only two weeks away and this game is really going to rock the ship this year.

I was at Canal Walk when I recieved the order. Rushed over there in 5 mins only to be told the same thing. Quite a kill buzz :(

BT had me pitching twice for nothing by telling me to collect when it was not even there yet. At least I'm close to a branch so not that bad, but still pathetic.

Glad I read this post tonight as I was going to go to Takealot tomorrow with one of my managers as he also received notification he could collect his copy.

I had phoned the called center at 4 today to confirm if they had stock before I ordered and if they would deliver on Friday (CBD). They did say there system reflects stock dispatching is only allowed from Friday. This thread now explains it.

I always call to confirm if I'm doing a pickup. But usually I get stuff delivered as I stay in Somerset West and work in Stellenbosch. I think I will go and buy the game though. Not going to bother with the pre orders etc. Will wait till next week to see how everyone is enjoying it...

That isn't cool! They should really give everyone some sort of a voucher who went out there to collect the game and wasted their time.

errrrrr....

I checked up on my order just now. They changed the line where it says: "Expected 28 October 12:00" to "Expected 28 October"

I phoned, and they lady confirmed that I will definitely get it tomorrow.
