So around 10 years back I invested my first 200 bucks in Satrix EFTs. Steadily increasing it as I had spare cash.

Today it crossed the R1 000 000 mark... totally freaked out :)

Wow, congratulations :)
What etf's you buy?
Give us more details...how much you invest pm?

Congrats man!

Just think about reassessing your asset allocation with the potential downgrade to junk status.

Hope it continues to grow!

I hit 500k a month ago, I've been at it since 2012.
Luckily, I have no debt, so it's easier :)

Thanks man. I know talking money is a bit of a taboo but I wrote this to hopefully spur okes on. Even in times of austerity we must save.

I have Top 40 and Swix shares only. All reinvested. Never touched a cent. I live very humbly but travel a lot. Pay increases and tax refunds small as they were went into the funds.

See my tips to boost your eBucks thread. I save wherever I can :)

@Hendrix. That's awesome man. Wish I did this before kids and private schooling.

I invest equally into STXDIV, STXRAF & STXIND
Rafi has been very kind to me recently.

But it just shows, by being disciplined, it's possible.
A negative I have noticed is it becomes obsessive, I check stock prices daily.
I know it's wrong, but investing is now addictive.

I check once a quarter. There were days that you "lost" like R20k. Satrix is the trust old tortoise in my investment portfolio. The best part.... negligible fees. Those eat away at savings.

That is a worry yes, I'm not moving money out, just no more going in, I'm diverting the rest offshore now

I am old enough to have been through three 8 year cycles (just my take on these slumps). People said exactly what Shalin is saying back in 2008. There is merit in that but if you in it for the long haul.... fear not.

Yep, very true, it's just that my offshore exposure is low, about 20%, so just trying to get it up.

So you are signed up with them via monthly debit or you buying yourself?

Learn this trick.... you don't miss money if it goes as soon as it comes. My Dad taught me that.

I have a debit order going off on my salary date. Top ups are done manually.

How old are you out of interest? Did you manage to accumulate this whilst paying a bond?

Turned 40. Yes, paid off bond and support extended family.
