Taking a Pay-cut

I'd accept and and see if the cost of living is that much lower. If you can move to the US and maintain a decent lifestyle on much less then what is the issue? They are probably adjusting your salary to the level people of your job description in the city where you are moving to. International postings in 3rd world areas always pay more if you are skilled. Heck, I know engineers who earn up to 3 times as much for going to places like the Congo. I guess nothing stops you from putting your CV out and seeing if there is not something better out there but with the world economy where it is right now what the company is saying sounds relatively reasonable.

All in All
It dosen't sound too bad considering that the company will provide me with a fully furnished home(paid-for), paid comprehensive medical+dental aid, relocation bonus, discounted stock options, paid vacation(anywhere in the world), return ticket for family member per year and lastly, all employees will be given a revenue bonus every year depending on how well the company performed.

I don't think that's a bad deal. It's an awesome deal.

I'm moving from Macae, Brazil to Houston, Texas. Life in Macae is expensive even more so than Rio de Janeiro. Our office here is shutting down, if I don't go to US my other options are to take up a post in Abu Dhabi or quit. Resigning is not much of an option for me since getting a job in SA is not so easy especially for people with my experience.

I'm not the only one taking a cut, even my boss is doing so, its worse for him because he is having kids, and private education there is not so cheap.

At least your company offers spousal benefits.

Take the deal, try it for a year and untill then send out your CV and see what the market looks like for your skill set.

Once you’ve agreed to work for a lower salary, issues will arise. If you have to do the same job for less, your first challenge may be emotional. Accepting a lower salary can be difficult if you hang your self-worth on the size of your paycheck.

Perform well despite your lower pay, and you’ll build a case that supports giving you a raise when the economy recovers. It may take two jobs and a recovered economy to get all the way back to that higher salary, but you can at least make a significant leap toward it if you perform outstandingly.

If your living expenses are going to be much lower then it's not a problem.

Instead of focusing on the pay cut you need to work out how much you will have left every month after paying all you monthly expenses. If that is significantly less then what you currently have left after expenses then that is an issue...
