So I ordered my DSL on the 12th of April. Since then I've been looking at doing a self install and from what I've found it seems like you plug the filter in the router and thats it??!! Maybe I should go work for telkom, R404 bucks to plug in a filter!! Anyway, this morning I phoned to just see how far along it was and to tell them I wanted to do a self install. The first lady I spoke to said that everything was ready and I just needed to arrange for a technician to come and install it and she put me through to the "technicians". I told the guy there the story and he sounded confused. He then told me that he had only received the request for the dsl on the 4th of May because of the strikes and I would probably have to wait for another 2 weeks for the line to be tested and then longer for the connection to be ready. Sounds like a load to me but what can you do.
I never expected too much from Telkom cos I've heard all the stories but I'm still sad that it's taking so long. Especially after the first lady told me it was ready. Anyway, who wants to take bets on when I will actually be online??
