Taking long to build a lane?

On Hendrik Potgieter Road nearby Clearwater Mall, I think about 2 months ago I noticed that they were cutting a section out of the middle island and building/extending another lane for the traffic lights for cars turning right.

I was quite happy about this because it would make my morning trips to work so much easier.

But now 2 months later they haven't completed this 100 meter strip of road. Have not even begun tarring it? Are these guys on strike or what? I'm sure I just constantly see them standing around doing nothing and occasionally another heavy duty will re-flatten the same stretch of dirt, the next day I just see like 5 small cement barriers added and so on.

Oh and PS I hate you okes who insist on overtaking everyone in the right lane and forcing yourself in front up ahead when you know there is no lane.

They have been building 2 new off ramps on the N2 to Inanda road now for nearly 3 years.

As you exit the city and you get to Spaghetti junction, 5 lanes comes to a standstill because of this. Madness.

It's called milking the system.
The contractor who won the tender keeps coming up with legitimate excuses, so a new contractor is appointed (as recommended by the old contractor), who has similar legitimate excuses and then recommends a new contractor who ...

Each time, there is a minute problem with the details in the tender, and monies are exchanged, not the full amount mind you, just enough to get the job "started" before the excuses start.
But, somehow, the exact same problems with the tender keep re-occurring, and the contractor keeps finding legitimate excuses, and the cars and houses purchased get more luxurious.

Actually one and a half years, its not the of framps that is causing the delays, it is the guys doing the bridge they are joining the bridge in the center (in between the N ans S lanes) I had a look st the job about six months ago, trust me it sucks glad we never got that contract. They where meant to be finished in May this year if I remember correctly, least it is not as bad as Old Main Road Hillcrest.

I worked in Phoenix industrial until Dec 2008 and they were busy for a good 6 - 10 months already, I drove past it everyday. So it's over 2 years.
Anyway, yes Hillcrest is a nightmare. Now they started on Inanda rd and not even finish with Old main.

would like to get hold of these contractors and just give them a good slap to wake up as they are causing unknown traffic build ups. they should actually make the road a bit wider at the sherwood onramp that joins the n3. Every dayshift i work i get stuck in this lame excuse of traffic because the people from sherwood are trying to get onto the highway but they cant because theres already alot of cars.

these guys who dont understand what an indicator is will get their tyres shot out aswell. argh !! just jk
