Talk500 & Iphone

yeah i think it is, although they adjust it slightly to match an "iphone" equivelant package from what i remember

oh boy, don't ask that, you are just going to open the floodgates of insults and counter insults.

Go play with both phones and choose one on your own

Hahahaha well after reading about the iphone not being able to send contacts/mms its a done deal for me, X1 looks nice but do you also have to download and install a lot of software to get the phone going?

Yip, its difficult finding a phone that suits all needs, I loved my SE P1i, and when it came time to upgrade I checked around and could not find any phones I liked, even though the X1 is a very impressive phone, I have had some bad run ins with windows mobile, and that left a sour taste in my mouth.

So when my wife got the iphone, she did not want ti, she loves her motorola q9h because it easy to sms, so I took it, took time to get the iphone perfect, but I can sms/mms copy and paste any thing, only thing that is missing, is sending a business card to another phone, but oh well, one of those things, love the phone, and especially the osx(unix) os as well as all the apps you can download (the same with windows mobile phones, the amount of software is astounding).

Thats why, I say, try it for yourself, only way to decide

It will really depend on what you want, business needs then the x1 will suit you and you can tweak to your needs there is endless software out there or the iphone which pretty much speaks for itself. I am sure depending on who you speak to you will get different advice so just go and play with both of them.

Just an aside i am not sure what the pay in for the iphone will be but i know the pay in for the X1 on the talk 500 is R4600. On equivalent package with MTN pay in is R1600 odd. Butts thats a different story all together from other threads.

This could develop into something - http://www.macworld.com/article/138011/2009/01/mycard.html - free download atm so why not grab it (if you havent already).

Oooooh thanks man, good ol appstore, defintely getting this one

EDIT : Just tested this and its working like a charm, best thing about vcard/mycard is that you send the contact photo with. So another myth dispelled, can forward business cards to other phones, but have not checked the "receiving" side yet

Ok, so I have decided to get the iPhone, read 30 pages of the iPhone thread and it looks like a awesome little gadget...

Now, I know this has probably been discussed in that thread but could someone maybe give me a list of app which is necessary to download for the phone to work properly..

+ has the new iphones got the latest firmware installed?

Just read the iphone tips and tricks thread, it has everything you need, but its best to go to http://www.iclarified.com, and look at the tutorial on how to jailbreak your phone (if you want to have 3rd party apps). Its easy and works like a charm, and after that the world is your oyster, here are some of my fav apps:

irealsms (best sms app ever, not free though)
swirlymms (for mms, not free)
finder (you need this for swirly to work, its free)
cycorder (taking videos, free)
shazam (just get this and be amazed, ITS FREE!!!!!)
dtunes (free)
Bossprefs or SBSettings (some internal tweaks, free)
winterboard (to change or add themes to your iphone, free)

All of these apps are 3rd party apps, meaning its not available on appstore, but wait till you start downloading apps (wifi on iphone works like a charm), you wont be able to stop
