Can anybody help me set up a profile / task to turn WiFi on when I arrive home and off when leaving home

OP I can help doing this with Llama, haven't used Tasker myself.

There are many ways to do this, but all involve a profile and a task. Profile is the "if", task is the "then".
New profile-location - new location. Give it a name. Select Net and/or gps whichever you prefer. Decide on appropriate radius. Tap back button (top left on map, not android back) and name the location. Select new task - name it - add action - net - wifi on.
Other profiles may involve cell towers seen - read "location without tears"

I use 3 profiles for this:
1. cell towers to create a variable (%cellb),
2. and then that variable switches wifi on and searches for home wifi network and gives me a toast
3. When home wifi connected then it swicthes of previous 2 profiles and switches mobile data to 2G only and puts my security lock off.

I used to have my tasker set up to switch on my wifi when I get close to home with gprs.
Them switch it off when it disconnects (I leave).

Worked well but I have no idea how to do it again tbh.

OP, why do you want to do this?

The amount of battery power your wifi radio is using when not connected to a network is negligible. Now you're going to install an app which is constantly running in the background.

The app you're going to use will consume more power than just permanently leaving the wifi on since its either going to use the cellular radio, or the GPS to constantly listen to determine your location.

I'm sorry but I wasn't clear when I asked

Let me start over....

Use tasker to set WiFi Off and Keyguard off when I arrive at home
When I leave home... WiFi Off and Keyguard on

Tried
Auto location... Inconsistent
But it does work sometimes
....

Cell near.... Doesn't work at all

You need to give the auto location a good km or so radius if you want it to work consistently, especially if you use net location only (GPS tends to use more battery)
Cell near is tricky. It can take a while before you have a list of all the towers around you.
Can't really comment on keyguard. Suspect it is not available in later android versions unless rooted.
Read this.

Will this keep Keyguard off... At home

No that you have to set up separately. Just set state: Wifi connected to home wifi and use secure settings for keyguard.

Cell near has always worked for me, you scan when you outside your door to save the towers and done. Once you connected to wifi but this profile must go off so it stops scanning and if signal drops or anything it does not matter as you are connected to wifi and you are not scanning.

You might be right here.

Try Clear password and set pin in Secure settings maybe. I am rooted.
