Hi fellow forumers

Been working on a taxi route planner of sorts at commutenav.co.za
It's currently just a web site, and I am planning on creating apps (working on Android app already).

The system is not complete, most features are still offline as they are still buggy. So the stuff that's online's the 'stable' functionality.

I'd appreciate some opinions :)

It's simple and quick, but the steps are not right, it tells me to take 4 taxis when I take 2 taxis when I used to travel from randburg to sandton.

Yeah, it depends on the amount of information that's available. I currently use test data which is routes that I know (I've used taxis a lot). It's built with the purpose of being more accurate as more data is entered. I'm gonna add routes aggressively once I fix some of the bugs that I've noticed. Hopefully it'll start being useful for people to use it

Thought I ought add some updates here:
I've delayed an Android app till end of the year, to focus on having an usable product. I've updated the design of the site, especially for mobile users.
Also been working on an url shortening service of sorts, to share routes. The feature should be up next weekend :)

Nice project.

Latest update:

Finally added the url shortening service for routes. When the user gets directions, the link address is displayed at the top.
It's still very basic, but it does the job.

An example is http://rwt.to/.27vBvr, which will show the user the valid directions.

Also noticed that there's lots of people who've been trying out and not getting directions cos they're out of range from the taxi ranks that I have included in the system.
I made an API that I use to show currently possible routes, but I'm still not satisfied with the security, so for now it's gonna be the dumb coverage map that I created.

I'd still appreciate opinions :)
