Most of the drivers depending on how hard they work, the hours as well as the specific types of trips they make ie late night clubbing to home etc. Around R15k to R20k

Financially unless you have absolutely no other option and need to make some income to survive then there is no other choice, but cashing in your provident fund is never recommended.

Another issue is the fact that the vehicle you need to purchase must be sedan, 4 doored and a certain age, for UBER atleast. And the amount of KM's it will clock up makes the car worth it for 3-4 years then it needs to be replaced depending on the KMs.

Is there nothing you can do to potentially contract, or ad hoc jobs whilst you look without drawing from the provident. Either way your choice I guess

So thread necro

I need some info from current owners that have cars on the platform

Anyone on this forum?

This will depend on whether you will be driving the car yourself or if you will hire a driver. In Johannesburg, driving yourself, you will make between R6500 to R8500 (excluding costs) per week this off course depends on the number of hours you put in. Weekly costs you looking at +/-R1500 petrol, between R1200 - R1600 Taxify commission (@19%), Data (500mb per week) & airtime. In Durban you will make a bit less than you do in Johannesburg. If you hire a driver he will give you R2500 per week (standard going rate). This is on the Taxify platform.

If you are on Uber, you will make a bit more but their commission is higher at 29% so in the end you end up with more or less the same. And remember you need to apply for a slot on Uber with a waiting period of 2 to 3 years. Your best bet will be with Taxify as there is currently no waiting period.

Its not easy to cover everything in a single response, you are welcome to ask questions and I will answer.
